HM/Marriott advice sought!

My FI and I are hoping to take advantage of his Marriott rewards points for our honeymoon (aswell as Mileage points for our air to wherever) and I'm looking for suggestions for Marriott locations - that don't have that "hotel" feel and would be suitable for a romantic HM.

Aruba, Curacao, USVI, Grand Cayman, Hawaii (the big advantage of HI being that in air-miles, it's part of the US!) Even considered Phuket - but the travel time is SO long!

If anyone has any experience with any of the above mentioned, could you share your thoughts.

Also, anyone know about Marriott All-inclusive packages? I believe it's called the "Escape" packagehuh.gif

We are going to Curacao for our HM and used my FI's Marriott points. We got an ocean view room for one week. I am so freaking excited.

We also used his miles to fly us first class. Basically our whole honeymoon is FREE! Well except for the food and drink part.

Yari,

I visited Curacao (for a day trip whilst on a cruise) and it was BEAUTIFUL! One of my favourites, actually.

I believe that they have an AI plan - and was wondering how you go about getting it... If you can "upgrade" with more Marriott points or pay a fee (I know that their Portofino restaurant requires a $20 surcharge, so they definately do AI)

We plan to do the same as you in regard to trying to upgrade to first class - but man! Going to Curacao sure blows a lot more points than HI - which I've heard is SUPER expensive, so maybe it all evens out! What to do?!!!

When is your HM, btw?

We looked into the AI but decided against it...wasn't worth the points. Plus we figured we wanted to explore the island and not be stuck at their restaurants. Also, since that is the only thing we are paying for, might as well splurge.

Our HM will start on October 11th!!! I can't wait.

Since we booked early the first class points were only 50K. Not too bad. My FI travels every other week, so he racks up points quick. Thankfully!

St. Kitts has an AI Marriott. My FH has been to the surf club and ocean club many times in Aruba. His parents swear by it and go several times a year. We have been looking into the different time shares. Frenchman's Reef and Cove in St. Thomas look so nice. We can't get into the cove, so we are back at square one for honeymoon planning again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
