I agree with what others have said. You need to let her know that this is YOUR wedding and you and your FI will be making the decisions regarding the wedding. Most of the people that are invited will not come, but I don't think it would be wrong for you to tell your FMIL that there is an added cost for extra guests and to maybe trim down the list. Then maybe as people decline she can invite someone else. Basically I think she needs to sort her invites into A & B groups. Otherwise maybe she can help shell out some $$ to pay the extra costs pp.

If you've ever read any of my posts you will know exactly what i am going to say lol

Take a deep breath, sit back compose yourself and ask FI to get his mother to back off because if he doesn't you will and you will piss her off no end lol

If your mum is paying for a lot of the wedding then FMIL can poke off inviting so many people. I agree with everyone else tell her over 15 SHE is paying for the extras.

As for the rest of it you need to decide what you and FI want and then TELL FMIL what is happening - she doesn't get a say its not her wedding!

My FMIL is a control freak 2 but she was warned early that I take no crap and she knows i'd rip her apart if she started so up to now she's kept it shut lol

It will work out you just need to get your game plan sorted and stick to it

Hi girls,

I haven't jumped off the bridge yet....and I haven't sent out the save the dates yet. I just finished (well...good enough for now) my website and drafted a letter to put in with my save the dates directing people to the website for travel info and all that stuff.

My new gripe is my dress. Does it really take 6 -7 months for the dress to come inhuh.gif I only have 9 months until the wedding. I just haven't walked out of the dressing room and said...yup this is it! I am going again to 2 more stores on Sat. Wish me luck!

Hey...what kind of dresses are you wearing....is it ok to wear a traditional gown on the beach...everyone thinks it would be too much....I am not talking a princess poofy dress...just a nice a-line....what about a trainhuh.gif My wedding is going to be on the beach...weather permitting.

There's a thread that shows everyone's dresses. You'll see all different kinds there. I'm getting married next May and haven't even started looking at dresses yet. Everything will be fine. There's no need to worry about every detail, things always have a way of working out.

This is YOUR day... This is YOUR day... it is the one day where you can do what you really want... would you ever tell anyone else how to live their lives or have their wedding?? Probably not... I have had to deal with a lot of crap from people too, and I break down and tell them like it is... I say, "Pretend we are eloping... and we are inviting you to witness it, so if you don't want to come, then don't".... Do what you want... years from now you will regret it if you do what everyone else wanted...

I'm wearing a traditional dress, it's a line lace with a train. You should wear whatever dress you love, get what you want. Once you decide what you want, everyone else should just be quiet about it. I ended up getting my dress right off the rack, i think it really depends on the dress you pick, some dresses don't take that long to come in. I would just keep looking to you find one you really like. So many girls on this forum wear traditional wedding dresses.

Don't let anyone push you around. You decide what you want and let MIL and everyone else know the way it is. Give a number of people she can invite. Period. If you don't put boundaries on her behavior, she will run your wedding and the rest of your life. Only if you let her get away with it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
