With 769 rooms, featuring authentic colonial Mexican architecture, the Grand Xcaret offers both comfort and elegance. No I havent but Ive seen many pictures of the beach and yes it is on the small side and it is a manmade lagoon. We live about 3 miles away from the beach now, so the beach part of the vacation is not a big deal to us. We are actually looking more forward to spending the week in the pool than anywhere else. That is why I love both the Occidental Grand Xcarat and the El Dorado... They both have amazing pool choices.

I initially e-mailed the groups manager at the Occidental by mistake which might be why it took her so long to reply to my confusing wedding proposul. Anyway I finally e-mailed the wedding cordinator for the resort Edith this afternoon and she e-mailed me back with in hours. Yeah!!!!

Bad news is she didnt have much info for me as they are putting together new wedding packages and their 2008 stuff isnt out yet. Anyway. she did at least send me a couple gazebo pics. Ok so I tried to post them and the pics are too big. So if any RM brides are interested in seeing them PM your e-mail address and I can send them to you.

I just came across this on The Knot and thought I'd post it - it is something I'd want to know if I were looking into this resort! Maybe it's common knowledge, but better safe than sorry ...

---------------------------------------------------------

It doesn't have a real beach, only a small man made one on a lagoon, here's a pic of the beach

No, its pretty common knowledge if you go over to trip advisor. This is our wedding resort and they are known for their pools and their wildlife and landscapeing more than their beach. And for guests who do need that beach day they say the best beach in Playa Del Carmen is like a 10 minute cab ride away!

I live on Cape Cod and am about a 5 minute car ride from my fav beach and spend A LOT of time on the beach so the beach aspect of the resort is not really that important to me. I cant wait to jump in a pool!

Hi All,

I found this site while trying to find more information about the resort. If you scroll down to the center of the page, it has links for more pictures and it also has virtual tours. It looks really nice. Also - when you open up the virtual tours link, there is another link inside that window to even more pics. You have to allow pop-ups though.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
