!

OK I'm confused.. I don't understand why lighter skin looks better in pictures.. Can someone explain.. My white @$$ really needs some some or else I will scare off everyone...

I don't really get it either Tammy, I think I look way better with some color than pasty white! I guess the key is probably not to be red & not to go overboard with the tan either, maybe just a light base tan, at least thats what I'm going to go for!

That sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

May I ask what you tasted? I am offering a fish, chicken and beef for my guests and since we can only taste 3 main dishes, I have to pick the right ones to taste.

The Bus sounds great. I'll have to look into it.

I don't think I'm going to make it down there before my wedding so your site visit might be the closest I get to a tasting! I know you said everything was good but was there even one thing you think we should steer clear of... if you were FORCED to to pick one?

So they finished redecoratng all the rooms right? Did you love the decor? Do they have the flat screen TVs up (not that I plan on spending a ton of tiime watching TV, but hey, they're cool!).
The decor of the rooms look great and I think they are still finishing up some of the small details since one morning while I was in the room a lady knocked at the door and asked if she could come in and replace our bathroom trash can. She took out the plain one and left a painted ceramic can that I wished I could have taken home with me. So cute! I think the TV's were flat but they were still in a entertainment center - not hanging up - funny I guess I didn't pay that close of attention now that I think about it!

Here is the list of the items we tasted:

Appetizers: Quiche Lorrain, Baby shrimp tartlets & Crab meat canapes - these were all good but if I had to eliminate something from the meal it would be this - I haven't gotten the final pricing yet but I know it is going to be around $4 per piece and we were told to order enough for each person to have 3 appetizers. This adds up fast and isn't a very large amount of food for the money.

Starters: 1) Mixed green salad 2) Pistachillo crusted goat cheese salad with hibiscus dressing 3) Palm heart salad with caramelized balsamic vinegar - again all were terrific and had lots of color and veggies but we ended up selecting #2 - it was different than anything we had ever had tasted before and the presentation was like something out of a magazine.

Main Course: 1) Fish of the day wrapped in potato string, mushrooms and zucchini 2) Beef tenderloin filled with blue cheese and almonds 3) Spinach wrapped chicken - I would have been happy to select any of these but we are going with offering our guests a choice of #1 & #2. The children will have chicken fingers and french fries at an estimated cost of $18pp.

Dessert: (We are not planning on doing a traditional wedding cake.)
1) cheesecake topped with fresh berries 2) 3 milk cake 3) churros - we are going to do the s'more station and #1 (I love cheesecake and this was very good!)

Wonderful & informative review Sarah. I really appreciate hearing about the public bus since many of my guests are planning on relying on that option during their stay.

You are so organized! And smart! What a load off of your mind to have all your decor & oot items already there. That is going to be a PITA for me sad.gif

And I agree, Hilton brides must have breathed a huge sigh of relief upon hearing about Emeline & her level of organization. YAY!

Thank you Sarah for all this great info! I was debating about the canapes but honestly I agree - that they are really quite expensive so I think I'm going to skip them.

By the way, are you doing a pp open bar or consumption?

we are doing consumption - our guest will enjoy drinks but nothing crazy. I think Scott looked at the cost for open bar and figured that each person would need to have 3 drinks an hour for us to get our moneys worth or something like that. Hopefully we don't end up with a shock of a bill at the end! smile41.gif

Oh my gosh Sarah.....I love your review. Thank you!

It makes me SO excited for my own wedding at the Hilton. Yes, Emeline has been a pleasure to work with for us too.

I want to get more information from you on the crates you mentioned. Were these crates in addition to the plastic boxes you got from Lowes? Are the crates from Lowes? We are going to have to take many boxes with us and we have some family each willing to take some too. Your ideas for transport are great and I may need to do the exact same thing.

So you sent the boxes through TSA security and they put the ties on?

Sorry so many questions about this....but I was super nervous about this very same thing since we are talking ALL of our decor (including many breakables).

You said it was hot there....was it warm at night too or did it get cool? I am wondering how cool in will be at night in April?

About transportation....was this just you and Scott or was it a bunch of guests on the same ride to the Hilton? For your 17 guests....will they all be picked up from the airport at the same time? How does this work? I want to contact this company for us and our guests. I will definitely let them know you & Scott referred us!!

Great to know about the bus too!

Hmmmm....I think those are my only questions for now. I am sure I will re-read your review.

Maybe I should have given you a PM.

Again, thanks for all your information. smile03.gif

Kristi

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
