Would you pay for calligraphy for placecards?

I think they look good. They do not look professional, but cute.

I like the idea of putting them away for a few days and if you don't like them then...bite the bullet and buy new ones and have them done.

Ok -i am going to be honest - i would have them re-done. they do look cute but look very 'home-made' and i think home-made is OK if it is intentional KWIM? now i am a bit of a perfectionist so my opinion might be on the more extreme end but if it was me i would want them to be more consistent and a bit more professional looking.

I hear what you're saying. I'm not sure what I'm going to do because I think deep down inside, they probably won't matter, but I'm not 100% convinced of that yet :) !

Considering I still have to spend $ on my BD pics (i finally found a photog I liked!), alterations, and my FI and I are purchasing a 2nd home (woo hoo!), I can't justify on spending one more dime on the darn sand dollars!

So, I think what I will do is take them with me and if I hate the way they look when all the decor is put together I'll just have them removed.

(That's what I'm saying right now, so incase I change my mind I'll advise you!!!)

I think that the ones that you did are fine. Do you intend to display them exactly as they are in the picture that you posted? If so, is there anyway for you to recreate the "complete look" so that you get a better idea as to if they are closer to your vision? Maybe if you see them that way, in some type of box, with sand & shells, you'll be able to figure out if you truly like it or not. Sometimes seeing something complete can change your point of view!

Chick don't sweat the small stuff or you'll end up round the bend xx

I wasn't going to do place names until I realised if I don't i'll end up with FMIL sitting next to me now I am lmao

I think the ones you did actually look fine and they'll be cute when you present them in the cute little box with sand and shells.

Nobody will see them side-by-side with your inspiration pic except for us. I think your guests will appreciate the creativity more than they'll worry about the handwriting anyway.

I know this is your vision, so you may not want to make a change, but this is just a completely different option:

Buy the sand dollars again and instead of spending 90$ on them to have names on them, thread a little pretty ribbon through them, add a little tag with the guest's name and present them at the table as place cards so that they can all take them away with them and use them as ornaments when they get home!

I'm doing something similar, so I'm biased, but that way they will actually get used afterwards (in theory); I wouldn't keep a sanddollar with my name written on it.

It's a totally DIY-friendly project.

Voila!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
