Is anyone planning a really small wedding with 5-10 people? What are you planning? Cermony and dinner no cocktail hour? I do not know what a very small destination should really entail...

hi! im not planning one but im shooting one in riviera maya in may. there will be 10 guests. they are planning a cocktail hour and dinner after the ceremony. we will go take photos during the cocktail hour. but we wont be gone the entire time. who doesnt love a cocktail hour. and with a wedding that small you could totally customize it and make it fun - a lot of little extras.

what time of the day are you planning your ceremony? that could make a difference too.

The package we are purchasing includes the cocktail hour. I was told if its a very small group (we do not know a number yet, we are at 20), then they would add extra things in. I think they meant under 15 though. So, ask your resort what they can do. I agree that there is more you could do for a small group as you will not spend as much money. I say do it all, and have fun with it.

Were having no more then 10 guests. My FI and I are meeting up before the ceremony to take before pics then heading to the ceremony, then afterwards doing group shots and beach pics. Were just doing Ceremony and Dinner. And afterwards we may go into town to a club,, that we'll play by ear.

Tammy, who are you using? Tammy, I know I has seen your post but where are you getting married? My FI has already said he does not want to spend alot of $$$ of a photography, me on the other hand....

Maybe I will pay for the photographer myself and not tell him till it is all said and done-hehe. That will not go over to well. We do not know if we will have 5 guests or 20 guests actually attend our DW, where it will be, so I am totally not thinking straight by doing the other stuff.

I'm gettting married in Cabo, and we hired Juan. I know his rates went up recently but there are several good photographers, Leigh would be on the top of my list if I wasn't able to book Juan.

Have you decided on the destination yet?

We are having a small wedding as well. Right now we have 10 people, including us, booked. We have a lot of people that have said they're coming, but some I know won't, so we're estimating 20-25. We are doing a package as well, it includes cocktail hour & reception, our resort did tell us that if we had less than 20 people we could just make reservations at one of the restaurants, so that would make it less expensive, but I think we really want to have some privacy and be able to dance and stuff like that.

But I'm like you, a lot of our decisions depend on how many people are coming. If it stays at 10, then I really don't think we will do the reception, it would be silly, and what would the point of dancing be with 10 of us. So, I really need to get a better count so I can plan!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
