Our wedding is April 1, 2009 and we started booking back in early May (pretty much a year in advance). We booked as soon as our TA was able to get the package prices from our carrier. With 10 deposits we were able to secure the rate and hold 50 spots for any of our guests that booked before a deadline. Is it a smaller resort that you are getting married at?

I booked our room (me and fiance) right in the beginning (14 months before the wedding date!) because where I am staying, RPLA, Cancun, you have to have a hotel reservation before you get the wedding confirmation. That way, they know you have arrived the neccessary amount of time before the actual wedding (usually 2 or 3 days before the wedding). I guess the policy differs depending on the resort but I didn't think it was a big deal. The prices of the rooms have not changed a bit since I booked them and I don't have to put any money down. I made my reservations directly through the hotel rather than use a TA. I'll book our flight whenever I see a good deal!

We booked really early because I found out that there were 2 other brides going on the same flight! Once I realized that one of them had booked with 24 guests, I got right on it! Our T.A. has really been great! We paid the deposit for 10 guests to hold the rate and now I am even sending out the invites early because she thinks the flight will fill up fast!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
