Hi Ladies,

Okay so we just confirmation that our wedding has been booked for October 7,2009. I am sooo excited! Now my question is how soon did you & your guests book your rooms? I spoke with my travel agent & he said to wait till about January 2009 as flights are not even available. I'm just a little worried that if I wait till then they might book up. What do you think I should do?

Thanks!

You already booked? Hmmm. Did you just book your room or your guests too? And if you don't mind me asking how much did you need to put down to hold the rooms?

I too would book the rooms ASAP. If you book now, you won't have to worry about availability later on, which is very comforting!!! Also, this gives your guests plenty of time to budget accordingly!

The only downside is that if you book now & the rates go down, you'll have paid the higher rate. That happened to us but luckily we were able to get our hotel to honor the lower rates.

Also, you won't have the luxury of having one package with air & hotel together.

I put down 10 deposits and that guaranteed the rate for our entire group from now until whenever. That was a package for airfare and hotel to Cabo. Our deposits were $150 each, and guests are quickly putting their deposits down too! So info is definitely available...well, at least through Sunquest, to Cabo. Not sure where you guys are having your wedding though...maybe there aren't any flights there yet. I would get a second opinion though. I contacted 6 or so travel agents before I settled on the one I ended up using.

We booked our hotel+air package with sunquest 14months before our wedding to secure the rates for 24 guests. I'm super happy we did now, because with the price of fuel going up the prices have gone up too, but we're locked into our price. You have to check with your TA, one of the issues with us was that Sunquest only had a certain amount of rooms at the resort that we wanted, so we didn't want to wait and risk there not being enough for our family. They won't be able to guarantee you the exact flight time or date, but they'll be locked into a price, and the tentative dates. Its a bit nerve wracking (at least for me) not knowing when I'll be flying out exactly but oh well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
