Please help me identify my dress!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

So here is my story. I found a dress that I love, and the only store I have found it in refuses to tell me who the designer is without buying it! The catch is that the only one they have in store is gold, and i at least want to see it in ivory before I buy it! They won't give me any information to help me see it in another colour and expect me to purchase it "sight unseen." They were applying some hard-sell tactics and I find the whole thing maddening so now i flat out refuse to purchase the dress from them. They also removed all the tags from the dress so I can not tell anything about the designer

I hope to track it down in another store, or even online! The only information I have is that is comes in "gold, ivory, and white". Also the sales lady said it is a 2009... is that even possible? This store was charging $1000.00 for the dress (which is honestly more than i want to pay).

I am attaching 2 pictures that i snuck in the change-room, and a link to a Maggie Sottero gown that has a similar cut and fabric... (I have never posted pics before so I hope this works (MaggieSottero.com - Jewel Ann - Dress Detail)

Thanks for any leads you can give me!

THis may or may not work... Some of the bridal salons that I have been to/lloked at have an webpage that lists what designers they sell. Some even show the actual dresses/designs online. Could you possibly find the website for the bridal salon and at least see who they carry?

I feel your pain...I ran into multiple places like that. I think it is a ridiculous business practice! What other store would you go in and they hide the brands, heck most the time prices are based on the designer/brand name alone...if you are shelling out the money you should get to know what you are buying. Good luck! I will keep an eye out.

I thought for sure that there was some information I had missed the first time I tried the dress on, so I went back. The tag only had store specific details on it. Their name, the cost, and a internal product number (trust me, it was not the dress model number).

I also went to their website and looked at all the designers they listed... it was not on any of these websites.... I have spent hours searching and am about to give up...

Does anyone know when the winter 2008/09 dresses will hit stores? Is it possible that this dress is so new that it wouldn't be on a designers site yet?

Everyone here is great! Thanks so much!!

The store where we bought my daughters dress did the same thing. However, try and go back to the store and look at the tag they have on the dress. Write down all pieces of information. We discovered that the if we googled the 'store' model number, it was in fact the same as the designers model number. So take note of the tags in the dress and the hanging tags with the price etc. and get as much information as possible. Was this a store in Toronto too?

OMG! that's terrible! I wish I knew what designer it was sad.gif I can't believe that though! That's horrible! Do you mind me asking what store you went to? My friend just got engaged and we're going to be looking at dresses in the Vancouver area and I want to make sure we don't go there. Ugh that makes me so angry just thinking about it.

It was Lisa's Bridal in NewWest... They have the best selection of destination gowns that i have found in the Vancouver area though, but their policies and customer service suck...

I already searched for the dress via the info on the tag, and it is definitely their own internal number. I just hope someone else has tried on this dress somewhere and can help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
