Chair dilemma

Ok, this may be stupid but I have a chair dilemma. We are getting married in the Gazebo by the pool of our timeshare resort in Pompano Beach, Florida. My Wedding planner says the entire ceremony will last only 15 minutes. Do you think I should rent chairs for this amount of time or should I pile everyone in my FFIL's lap in his wheelchair? LOL just kidding.

I just don't know whether to "borrow" some pool chairs but what if there are not any available? I am only having around 30 people. Do you think this is tacky?

Tough decision, you hate to spend money for only 15 minutes..but you also don't want a mish-mosh of chairs (what if they don't match), or even worse, not to be able to find enough chairs. I'd probably rent if it was me - just to give a consistent look and because then you don't have to worry about it and then you can have the chairs you really want :)

I think you should spend the money and rent the chairs. It will look a lot nicer and your guests will thank you. Also, the ceremony might last only 15 minutes, but it takes time to have your bridal party walk out, for you to walk out, etc...

I've shot weddings both ways.

If you are sure the ceremony will be short forget about the chairs.

BUT...

If you have any older guests, you might want to get chairs for everyone (to make it fair) to be comfortable.

Here is a sample shot with no chairs:

As for the chairs - I think you should arrange to have chairs for the guests - even if the ceremony itself is only 15 min - there is the time where the guests are waiting, the walking down the aisle, etc. - it always winds up being longer!

I agree. You need chairs. Like Alyssa said, the ceremony might be 15 minutes, but your guests will arrive early, you have to figure in the time it takes the processional, etc...

You don't have to get expensive chairs. Usually the wooden folding chairs are about $5 each. If you want to cover them, it is another $5 for the cover and sash.

If you want the Chivari chairs, those are $10-15 each, but should include the basic white pads. Custom color chair pads are an additional $5-10.

Does your count of 30 include the bridal party? There were 30 of us in Jamaica, but 8 of us were standing at the altar. We only set up 24 chiars.

The 30 does include the bridal party. I will have to take this into condsideration. I really only need 24. Thanks for the reminder. Thanks for everyone's opinion. It was a great help. I think I'm going to get the chairs. I found some real inexpensive ones $1.45 each. Now I have to get chair ties!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
