My wedding is not until December 2009. I made the mistake of going to try on dresses. My main purpose was to find out what type of dress looks good on me so when I really start looking in the late fall/winter, I would know what to look for. I have always had an idea in my head of what type of dress I pictured myself getting married in but more often than not, what I picture in my head does not look good on me. I tried on one dress yesterday and LOVED it. I felt like I looked amazing in it. However, if I buy this one now, so early, will I love it a year from now? What if I find something better next winter? On the other hand, what if I don't find anything better and by the time winter comes around, they aren't making this dress anymore? HELP!!!!!!

If you stop shopping for dresses after you get this one - you'll never find one better!! Seriously, the key is to stop shopping for them after you get yours. I could have had 7 different dresses - one for my dream garden wedding, one for my dream traditional wedding, one for my hollywood glam theme wedding, etc. You just have to think of it as something checked off your list and stop.

I agree, If you buy the dress that you've tried on and loved then you should absolutely not look at any others. You will always see another dress that looks just as gorgeous as the one you want. The key is not to look at anything else. I would probably end up with alot of dresses just like LALA but when I bought mine I stopped looking.

I'm having the same thoughts too. My soon to be SIL is going to be in town at the end of the month & I wanted to corral her, my mom, my sister & my soon to be MIL to go dress shopping. My FI & I are getting married in the winter 2009 in PV but that's pretty much the only decision we've made.

I'm thinking that I'm going to wait until we book the hotel. I already have a style in mind (strapless tea length silk dress) so I figure I'm ok. Our wedding is going to be very laid-back; thank goodness or I'd lose my mind!!

In my case if you find a dress that you know is it BUY IT and ORDER IT. I went dress shopping in April which was 10 months before my wedding and I found a dress I love but wanted to loose some weight so I paid for the dress and the store told me that I had until August to put in my order so they gave me Aug 5th to go back and try it on, which I did but when they put the order in the designer no longer cuts the dress. So if you love the dress I would recommend going to another couple of stores then order it because it may not be made for much longer.

If you find the one then buy it and don't go shopping for another dress. You could risk the dress being sold out and then you will obsess that you missed out on the dress of your dreams and then you will not be happy with another one. It you're like me that's what would happen...lol. How did you like the Nicole Miller dress?

I bought my dress in Dec2007 and my wedding isn't until April 2009! I think that when you find a dress that you absolutely love you should get it. If it makes you feel fabulous then thats all that matters. There wouldn't be any point in continuing to look for other dresses...besides you'd never find another one that was more fabulous go with your gut!

I have an appointment at Nicole Miller on 8/23 to try on the Yoke dress. It was the soonest they could take me. However, the dresses I tried on similar to it this past Saturday didn't look good on me (I have a very flat behind). Hopefully, the Nicole Miller will look great though. Then, it'll be even harder to choose!

Ladies, I can't thank you enough for all your input. I really appreciate it. Since I love this dress so much, I made a couple appointment at other placed through August to try dresses. If I do not find anything else I'll buy this one that I love.
