Thanks everyone for your support and comments! I think I needed my mini-meltdown to feel better today (sometimes you need to let it storm before the sun can shine, right?).

I just had a ton of that negativity happen yesterday, a mere 7 days before deposits need to be in, and it was time for me to snap!!

I have good thoughts today - am off to get my hair done and pick up my dress :)

I don't post a ton on here (we have dial up and it is ridiculously slow) but I do lurk... its nice to know there is a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to your rant when you just need to let it out.

thanks a ton!!!!

Jenn

Sorry you are going through this. We did also but now we said if you cant come you will be in our thoughts its our wedding we are paying for it and this is what we want. Since doing that people seem to be fine with it. Good Luck!

I've been so upset that I have turned to my FI and said "I don't want a wedding!"

But my FI has a good motto that he has adopted...(excuse the profanity) but he says "F**K 'EM!" because in the end, its just the two of us in this relationship.

If this is what you and your FI want, do it. Those who don't want to co-operate or join in are definitely missing out. If there's one thing I've learned from this forum, its that most DW guests end up having the time of their life.

Don't beat yourself up. This trouble is fairly normal. I end this reply wishing you strength and happiness....and a fantastic wedding in PV!
I agree with your FI's motto! Don't let the comments bother you, trust me, we've all been there. Just enjoy your day and do things the way you want regardless of who comes.

Welcome to the world of planning a DW! It's sad but true. All of us have been there at some point, myself included. You need to do what is best for you and your FI.

Now that I am married I wouldn't change a thing. Our wedding was perfect for us.

BIL got married 3 weeks before us (long story) and you couldn't pay me to go through all of the crap they went through for the big traditional wedding.

I had enough stress with my AHR, I can't imagine having to get married on top of that!

You just need to take a step back and relax and do what you want to do. Those who can/want to be there will find a way. and those are the people you want with you. Those that don't make it, well that's their loss.

Oh Jenn, I said the same thing, in tears... but you have to ultimately do what makes you happy... you only live once, and you are lucky enough to find true love... follow your heart, at the end of it all, it is your day....

PS. This might not be the nicest thing, but I tell people, the only two people who need to be present are my fiance and I...

even though I would like people to be there, the ones who are excited for us and to be there... don't worry! It will come together!!!

I agree with these girls...I think the most stressful part of the ENTIRE wedding including planning, ceremony ect, ARE THE GUESTS!!! Some people (like myself) had the opposite problem as you. My guests began inviting themselves left and right and it was VERY stressful for the first few weeks after sending the STD's. I know it's difficult especially when it comes to friends and family, but just remember this is YOU and your FI's day and you need do whatever the two of you want. Don't let everyone try and "alter" your plans, just set them up and whoever can/wants to go will. It will work out!! You can always vent to us! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
