With having a DW we kept the invite list the same but are only expecting 30-50 guests instead of the 180-200 we were expecting had we gotten married here. (and it's SIGNIFICANLY cheaper to get married in Mexico than in NY or NJ!). Basically, the people we never see are not going to go to Mexcio, but they would come if we got married here.

I wonder if that's part of the reason we don't mind so much lol

Dez, that's EXACTLY why we decided destination wedding. Average wedding in Seattle is about 30k... the cheapest estimate I could get was 25, and that was really cutting corners in areas I didn't want to cut. He has such a HUGE family... and they are ALL local... we'd have 350 on the invite list and MOST of them would show up. People (ie, my dad) kept telling me to "cut the guest list" and I kept asking which one of his brother's he didnt want me to invite.

We are a more the merrier as long as we know you kind of couple....I didn't want strangers attending our wedding because it is important that everyone attending the wedding is a special person in our lives in one way or another. We are happy to other people book on the trip that we don't know, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with them at our wedding...but then again, we are generally pretty private people. We just recently had one person who just booked that was not sent an invite but knows my FI from when he was in diapers. She told his mom that she wanted to come to 'his' wedding....(her words, not mine) and my FMIL okayed it and said she could book. To be honest, this lady kind of scares me, but I am prepared to get bridezilla on her if she tries to push anyone around...She did it to me once before and it was not appreciated.... Anyways, I don't think she would try anything on the day, but she is just a crude and rough woman that I am totally not thrilled to be hosting....Oh well, we'll see how it goes...

If your weird so are we. One of my girlfriends little sister and hubby are coming. I do know them just not the hubby very well. We like the more the merrier. And we are also having a get together before we leave and they are invited.

Its really not a problem as far as expense with the AI and the Semi private reception. And we only have one planned activity for everyone.

Wow, thank you ladies. I really did feel like we were the odd balls out since I see so many threads about uninvited/unwanted guests.

I should say some people at our wedding we met for the first time, i.e. guests of guests, because you can't really control who people bring. We were fine with that, but it was the people like coworkers we don't know well inviting themselves plus a date that we didn't want (and said no to).

We have the open invitation thing happening for our wedding too. We sent out invites to those we wanted there, and then we have verbally invited several people. My parents have invited a bunch of people they know that like to travel as well, and we are fine with that. For one thing, my parents are paying for the wedding package, but as along as we don't have over 50 ppl, there is no added cost at our resort. So far we are at 20 and there are about another 10 that will be booking that got actual invites, sot there is still room for another 20 if everyone else books that is supposed too.

    • Dental care would be very challenging when you are invited to a wedding. Everyone needs a clean and white teeth. I was also looking for a dental clinic in Toronto but all of the Doctor were busy. This was when I found Walk in Dental Clinic in Yonge Street just south of Steels. Since they were open until midnight, I did not have to leave my work early to get to my dentist. This dental clinic used dental veneers for my teeth and at the wedding everyone was asking me how I created my smile very nice.  The fact that they accept emergency patients for dental care is also very good. before the wedding, I recommend using this dentistry. If you need emergency dental care in Toronto visit Dr Karimi and Walk in dental clinic for their great patient care and service.
    • I'm so sorry to hear this  Did you have a signed contract with him? What did he or the contract say the turn around time be? If it is way past the deadline, you have made several documented attempts to contact him, and he has broken your contract and failed to produce what has been promised, you could resort to writing an online review of your experience -- often times, that motivates vendors who've dropped the ball to rectify the situation because it affects other potential clients.
    • STAY AWAY FROM CARIBBEAN EMOTIONS PHOTOGRAPHY!!!! Michael Weiler is a SCAMMER he took our money and disappeared!! we hired him as our photographer for our wedding back in November, he gave us a run around for the first week or 2 saying our pictures are almost ready and then disappeared. we have been sending him emails, texts and phone calls for the past 4 months and he is now where to be found. I made a fake account to email him and he answered right away as he is only interested in taking peoples money and not give anything in return.
    • For weddings you should definitely use a travel agent as there are promotions and amenities with a group block that you will not get by booking individually like comped rooms, upgrades, spa treatments, etc.
    • Congratulations and welcome to the forum! There are lots of great resort options in Punta Cana and we have stayed at or toured many of them.  Are you looking for a family friendly resort or adults only?  What you interested in with nature and the ceremony? All of the resorts will have different wedding locations and there are also a variety of off resort wedding venues in Punta Cana. Please feel free to email us at info@wrighttravelagency.com if you'd like us to send resort info and check group rates. Thanks! Patty
