we had the same attitude...pretty much anyone that wanted to come was invited.

of course this caused some problems with a few of the guests that did not behave properly but they just aren't invited to future events.

we had a reunion trip and pretty much everyone was invited...even my sisters friends, friends of friends, parent of friends of friends....

it was a good time.

Oh man, you guys are totally not weird. I don't have a ton of advice for the uninvited guest threads because the only people I don't want coming are people who will cause problems (like ex's ect)... other than that... I love meeting new people and its going to be a blast to have a big party down in Mexico.

We are going to do a pre-party thing too... It's going to be a tropical theme and we are going to call it "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" and do burgers and maragritas.

Keep the attitude of hospitality. :)

Haha, I'm so psyched for our pre-wedding party :) I added a very expensive "frozen concoction maker" to our registry (didn't think we'd get it, but I couldn't find the cheaper one my mom has) and it was one of the first things to get bought!!! (I'm thinking maybe a couple of friends went in on it).

That'll be a perfect excuse to use it!!!

I don't think you are weird at all. We're normally "the more the merrier" people as well, but weddings are just so expensive that I can't justify paying for people we don't know when I'm having to cut corners on other things. I would much rather use that money to help out the wedding party with hotels and attire than feed a complete stranger.

I'm in a slightly different boat than everyone else that my destination is actually in the country and so we are treating it as a traditional wedding (i.e, the guest list currently stands at 225 -- and that was with loads of cutting). If you didn't make a guest list that large, you really have no reason to be there -- and if I'm going to be increasing the number, there are plenty of people I would like to invite over a stranger.

Maybe I'm just a grinch! :)

No! You're not a grinch, and I 100% know where you're coming from!! Before we decided to do a DW we were planning a wedding here (hall booked and everything). Our guest list was at 260 people and there was no way to cut it down (my mom has 12 siblings and I have over 40 first cousins). With having a DW we kept the invite list the same but are only expecting 30-50 guests instead of the 180-200 we were expecting had we gotten married here. (and it's SIGNIFICANLY cheaper to get married in Mexico than in NY or NJ!). Basically, the people we never see are not going to go to Mexcio, but they would come if we got married here.

I wonder if that's part of the reason we don't mind so much lol

No Dez, you aren't a weird freak of nature! he he!

I think it's great that you guys are so open. We are the same way with our guests as well. I had two people from work who were going to PV anyway so I was like hey we are getting married in November....and before you knew it, they were booked and are going!

I think it's way cool! I think it's good if they are all the same type of people. You know? You can't have Suzie Q the floozie who is a man chaser mixed in with a bunch of couples...it might be kind of awkward.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
