Distraught...FI saw my dress before wedding

Recommended Posts

So today I was looking at pictures of me in my dress on my computer and in walks FI. He caught a glimpse of a picture and immediately turned away, knowing what he just saw. I'm very upset because our wedding day won't feel special anymore...I was so looking forward to seeing his reaction when he first sees me walk down the aisle, and unfortunately now I won't have that pleasure. The wedding is not for another 6 months but he already has an image of me in a dress in his mind...I'm even debating getting a new dress which I know doesn't make sense since I've found the dress of my dreams, just that this dress is already somewhat 'tainted'. Am I overreacting? Has anyone had this happen to them before? I can't seem to let this slide as I reallly reallly wanted the dress to be a surprise crybaby2.gif

Girl, don't go get a new dress! You have to remember how "men are" He caught a glimps like you said, and although you feel like he totally saw it, he will not remember what it looks like in a few days. It was a quick picture, and it was on the computer. I really wouldn't worry about it. I have my dress hanging in our closet and although you can "see" it, you can not tell at all what it will look like on. As a man, he saw his sexy FI in a "white dress" and that's it. It will be 100% special when you walk down the aisle, and NOTHING will do justice to the first time he sees you in person alllll done up, walking down the aisle with a smile on your face! Don't worry one bit! cheesy.gif

I would feel the same way you do! But.....

You are crazy to go out and get another dress! If its your dream dress then its "the one". Nothing will take away how you look that day. No matter what he thinks up in his mind, on the real day you are going to blow him away!!! Honestly, I dont think its going to change his reaction at all. With the emotions of the day, I am positive you'll get the reaction you are looking for.smile03.gif

I agree with Andrea. He's a guy. He saw a pic of you in a white dress, but I bet he can't even remember the details right now, let alone in 6 months. lol Besides, it will look different in person, on your wedding day, with your hair and make-up done and all of the emotions of that day. I can totally understand your feelings, but if its the dress of your dreams I can guarantee he won't remember a picture when he has you standing in front of him in real life!

I agree! Your FI jaw will hit the floor. Don't get a new dress. Six months is a long time. I forgot what my dress looked like until I wore it for my first fitting.

Awe, don't fret! I agree with the other girls, don't get a new dress. It's your dress and men are dense. Heck, my dress is hanging on the back of our bedroom door for the next 7 months in it's garment bag and you can even almost see the color of it through the bag and I'm not stressed. Besides, men are more aware than we give them credit for... he probably caught even of a glimpse to realize he needed to swing his toush around and nothing more. They are weirded out by the whole dress-before-the-big-day thing, too. ;o)

Don't sweat it. He saw a picture of you in a dress at a bridal store. He didn't see you, in a beautiful dress with your hair and makeup done, gorgeous flowers on the beach =) His mind will totally be blown on your wedding day, don't worry!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
