  • 4 months later...

I got married at Sol Palmeras in Varadero which is a 4-4.5 star. Everything was so easy and simple. I think the wedding day was the most relaxed during our whole time at the resort :)

When we had to fill out the forms here in Canada to send to the resort there was also a sheet of extras we might want. We choose the lesser wedding package and I didn't add on any extras. We had the choice to do so at the resort but there wasn't anything we needed...oh, we got an extra bottle of champagne for right after the ceremony.

We didn't have a "private" reception, but in one of the a la carte resturants. It was much nicer and better than I thought it would be. It was a set 3 course meal that was lovely. There was a band and everything did feel very private, even though it wasn't. The cake was excellent and hugh. We had the choice of vanilla or chocolate and this was arranged when we met with the wc. The way they do their icing is very different but it was fine for us. We thought we might have to pay for a cake upgrade but there was more than enough for 20 of us. They even had 2 bottles of champagne there that we didn't request or pay for.

I can't think of anything else right now...I will be doing my review as soon as I get my butt into gear :) Let me know if you have any questions!

hmm... I don't know how I missed this one previously.

When making my decision on whether or not to do artificial or go with resort flowers. I had requested from Sandra my WC to send me some examples.

and here is a picture of my cake from the Barcelo Marina Palace.

It looked.... OK... it tasted GREAT!

Those were real shells on the cake that had been `borrowed`from the daughter of my WC (Sandra) as that was one thing I forgot to pack! oops!

These roses were on the registry table on the beach. They were later delivered to our room. They were quite nice and lasted till we left a week and a half later.

I hope this helps!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
