Tracy S - The hotel is meant to open on 1st Dec however I was then told that it would open for the public on 21st Dec. I have asked Fabio for some photographs of possible ceremony and reception sites but he said he would not be able to provide these until mid Dec - early Jan. I have previously asked on here before if anyone has done a site visit but no one responded sad.gif

There is a small review in this topic http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31547

If I get any more info, i will be pass it on to you all.
Hello! I am not officially confirmed yet...just waiting on it to come in. I am really excited about my choice. I imagine that we will be compulsively checking sites come the end of December. thewave.gif

Does this affect any of the brides? Anyone have their wedding scheduled for December or January? How are they accomodating you?

Hi there - it's official that the start date isn't until February 1st. The hold up is apparently somethings in customs haven't cleared for the spa and restaurants.

The resort will move your wedding and your guests to another resort if this is the case (and may be the case with mine too). You need to get on the phone with your TA and your rep at the resort and speak to them immediately and get IN WRITING where your backup is - otherwise they will probably just stick you anywhere. If you have kids coming it will most likely mean that you are going to have to go to the Sensatori or the Beach, but they may be willing to accommodate you in the other ones too given that they had to push it back. Given that your wedding is so close to the opening date, I would try and fight for it though, see what they say.

To my knowledge they haven't started moving weddings yet, but they will if they have to and it is better to get your second choice nailed down and try and get comped for the inconvenience sooner rather than later!

I will let you know when my TA gives me any updates - she is in constant contact with them and I get weekly reports.

Thanks!

Hello all,

I'm an Azul Fives Groom (taking a little load of my bride) who is-maybe- having a wedding the same day as natalie ann, on Jan 31st.

Has anyone heard from Fabio lately? He was pretty good at getting back to us until 2 or 3 weeks ago and then he fell off the planet. I'm guessing the late opening of Fives is adding a ton of work for him, but to be brutaly honest, with a worried bride and 50 confused guests I am not worried about his workload and need some answers.

eebruce, thanks for the advice on getting the backup plan in writing. I have asked Fives and our TA to get us a guarantee on a secondary location and am waiting to hear back. We have a handful of kids coming, so I'm guessing Sensitori will be the default.

I have read some reviews on this site and Trip Advisor of Sensitori, but does anyone have a good sense of what the pro's and cons of Fives vs. Sensitori are? I want to compile that info so I can make a good case for comps if we get moved over.

Thanks to everyone for all of the great info on this thread. With limited info on a resort that doesn't 100% exist, it has helped quite a bit.

-Dave

You are sweet for stepping up. My wedding isn't until November so I am just now in communication with Fabio. I would suggest calling and leaving messages until you get a word. I chose Fives over Sensatori because of the proximity to Playa del Carmen. I also like that is not as large and quite simplistic. It's really hard to determine much else at this point with limited photos and actual photos of the finished resort. I am sure it will be beautiful and Karisma has a certain standard of food and such. I imagine Sensatori has more for kids possibly? Good luck...please let me know of your progress!

Haven't heard anything yet about the opening, but I have asked my TA and the rep at Karisma (Tiffany) and should hear something soon - I will keep you posted on what I learn. The bad news is they just sent me over menu options for Sensatori instead of for Fives. I asked for clarification.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
