Hey there!

Has anyone been out on the town in Playa, or experienced the nightlife? We'd like to cruise in from Azul Fives with around 25 people for drinking/ dancing on a night before the wedding. I heard Casa del Aqua is good for cocktails - but maybe not so much a nightspot? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Awesome news everyone. I just got off the phone with my TA and Omar from Karisma and am being told that the resort will indeed open on Jan 27th. All of the resturants, the beach, all of the bars and the room will be 100% ready. The spa building is not complete, but spa services (massage, hair, nails, etc) will be available in another onsite location.

There is still some construction, but the major stuff is done, it sounds like the construction is cosmetic to the rooms.

The info wasn't in front of him, but Omar said he believes there will be a wedding on Friday the 28th to kick things off.

It was a big scary ride, but is sounds like Fives will be ready to go in less than a week.

We live near the Fives and I walk by it all the time on my way to the beach. I can confirm that everything is up and running except the spa building which is coming along pretty quickly. The beach club has been complete for a couple weeks now. Condo owners are there now enjoying the pool and the bars. I'd say they are definitely ready to have a wedding there today.

We wish you all the best.

The scary ride got too scary for us, and we moved everyone and everything elsewhere. The big thing for us was pictures - and we couldn't understand why Karisma would not send any after months of requests.

Have an amazing time down there and a beautiful wedding day. It's much deserved after such a roller coaster ride. smile41.gif

Just curious to know, did they say which other spa will be available to azul fives guests? would it be another spa on a Karisma property?

Hi Mysti,

Just curious where did you move your wedding? Still with a Karisma?

My wedding was to be at Azul Fives in one week (Sat Jan 31 2009), booked it last May, it too got far to scary. They have a very disorganized office in miami, must be overworked employees. I have had so many different sales managers and wedding planners. They don't have the information on my guests and want me to contact them for payment, and they can't give my guests individual confirmations that they are at a new resort.

We moved to Eldorado Royal. They still want to charge the one couple, who have to stay at Azul Beach resort because they have a child, close to $200 for them to come to the wedding even though they are paying for an all-inclusive day at another karisma resort and we are paying $120 for their dinners at our private event. I've given up arguing. Too much stress. But everything is suppose to be beautiful at that resort. Wish us luck. Let me know where you moved.

The spa services will take place in another builing within Azul Fives. They said the massages can be moved anywhere (on the beach, in the guests room, etc) the rest of the services (hair, nails, etc) will be done in another Azul Fives building they are turning into a makeshift spa. Not the best, but if that truly is the only thing that's not 100% complete, I'll be fine with that.

Natalie Ann,

After the way Azul Fives treated us, we lost complete faith in Karisma. Not to mention that that we have two families coming with children, so that limited our options if/when we had to move last minute. So we are heading to Grand Velas.

It was actually our TA who suggested we move. And she just won an award with Karisma and has great relationships with them. She said when she stopped getting returned calls from them, that is when she decided to pull the plug. She went out and found Grand Velas, on her own, and negotiated a heck of a deal for us and our guests.

Good Luck with your wedding. El Dorado looks amazing as well.

Hi - my wedding is scheduled at Azul Fives for 3/15/09 - I see so many people changing locations - who's left with weddings there in February? I haven't gotten many answers from Karisma either, but I'm trying to stick it out because we have so many guests already booked there. Does anyone know if their response get better closer to the wedding? And how did they stick to the 45 day deposit rule if you can't even get answers on pricing in a timely manner to put the deposit down?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
