Did this help with people being able to hear you over the wind..? (I know some girls say even with the microphone, you can't hear:-))
Just wondering if it's worth it for us to get this...

- I'm confused about the taxi fare card thing... The doormen at Secrets have fare cards that we should check...? Are these actually, physical cads that we take with us...?
Thanks for the congrats, it's really fun being referred to as Mrs. everywhere now. As for your questions, I found the sound system quite worth it as it is rather noisy around the area and my aunt read a poem for everyone and without the microphone I wouldn't have been able to hear her. She started and it was really faint, so we asked her to grab the mic. Also, it made it effortless for everyone to hear what the Minister had to say. Definitely worth it. Now on that note though, perhaps having the mic for the ceremony is included in your wedding packages? I paid $150 (Dreams price) to rent the sound system for our music itself during the ceremony (seating, sand ceremony, recessional, etc.)... but I don't think they'd charge for not having the music set up? I would ask about it ahead of time if I were you as it makes sense to me for them not to charge for it just for the microphone.

As for the taxi fare cards, they are not something you can take with you as the rates change as the dollar fluctuates, however, you can ask the concierge or bellman to see it when he quotes you a price. I got a really good look at them at the ecological parks where they have it on display at the taxi stand for everyone to see.

Perhaps when you ask how much it costs to go somewhere, he consults his chart, and as you are looking over his shoulder (tee hee), you can ask him to show you the line where he got his figure (and you can double-check he's not ripping you off). :)

Jody -- thanks so much for the input! Very helpful:-)

We would actually have to pay $180 for the sound system just for the ceremony, but it sounds like it's worth it, so we probably will...

And thanks for clarifying the whole taxi card thing...I hadn't actually heard of those fare cards before, so good to know:-)

Wow! For $180, I hope they let you use it later for your dinner/reception/cocktail hour etc. It seems like quite pricey just for the ceremony but yes, I think it was worth it to hear everyone clearly. We hopefully only have one ceremony in our lifetimes, so one more thing to make it perfect is always good.

Tell me about it! :-)
Yes...they charge $180 per SET-UP! So, we'd have to pay that twice if we also wanted it for the reception...dumb I know :-)
But that's okay...our DJ will be there by then with his own sound gear:-)

And just an update on my situation with the resort, if any of you ladies are wondering :-)
Everything has now been sorted out...but GEEZ, was it ever a lot of aggravation for nothing:-)

The good news, for those getting married a few months down the road...I REALLY don't think you'll have the same kind of "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" kind of issues:-)

I leave in a week and a half! And will definitely keep y'all posted on how it goes! :-)

Oh goooooood!!!

I actually mentioned your "circus" problem to my agent as well...and she was floored that would be a problem! :-)
Glad that worked out for you too!
And hey -- maybe we'll run into each other:-)

We're acftually having our welcome dinner on the beach on Friday night...maybe our two groups will end up at the bar together, haha:-)
(you got any single guys going for my single girl friends..? :-))

Hi ladies,

I am fairly new to the site and this whole thing in general!

We have not officially booked anything yet, but are trying to choose between Secrets Maroma and Excellence Riviera Cancun for our wedding. We have not set a date yet, but would prefer July or October, so we will see what they can do.

I do know we also are for sure getting married here first and just having a Symbolic Ceremony. I have a friend that did not do it that way and regretted it-just too much drama and headache.

We are looking at 50 or so guest and all I care about is having a fun reception afterwards with food and alcohol! We are a pretty laid back couple, but I guess I need to actually book a date first before anything else. haha!!

Just wanted to introduce myself to you ladies and see what all you have to say!

Something I don't know if I posted about in my review or not... they have FREE wireless at Secrets in the rooms and if you don't have a laptop, there is a "Business Center" where you can go and use one of the computers for free also! So ladies, say hello from SMB (hopefully you can figure out how to use the @ symbol - that'll be a private joke until you've visited SMB and figured out what I'm talking about)!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
