I am totally addicted to that Trip Advisor forum too....hilarious. My FI and I both read it at work and come home and laugh about all the craziness....the people are hilarious.

I am just so excited we will be there in less than a month so we can see it for ourselves....if it is open by then. :)

I will be a total paparazzi and report back EVERYTHING we see!

For now I will continue to be addicted to the Trip Advisor soap opera haha.

I know what you mean. I got in on the TripAdvisor drama late and now it's going to cool off.

I e-mailed Cecilia @ Maroma beach and I have an appt to meet with her while we are there in November. We will be comparing the two resorts, taking pictures, etc. So I'll share it all once we get back.

In the meantime, I am sooo looking forward to hearing from those of you who will be there before me!

I do have a question. I believe it was at dreams the WC was happy to decorate with items your brought with you, like the chair bows. Is that true for secrets too?
I haven't requested this specifically, but I did ask the WC (Cecilia) about them putting our placecards and menu cards and she didn't seem to think it would be a problem, so maybe the same is true for chair bows etc...?

They sent me their bouquets files/cakes files/and the Q&A for the wedding (we're doing a symbolic wedding only) - so if you need anything let me know and I can definitely share info as well, although the other ladies who will be there in December will have more information faster I'm sure!!

Does anyone have details about the live music options at the resort? We want to book the mariachi for the ceremony and cocktail reception, but the prices are pretty steep ($650 for 45 minutes!) - although the pricing guide says that they are willing to negotiate if you purchase more than one 45-minute block. Anyone had an experience with this? Thanks!
Hey there!

I thought the prices for music were pretty steep too, so I posted a new thread asking for any help on this...
The best suggestion so far seems to be going through this company:

Ajua Weddings - Playa del Carmen Wedding Music, Guitar, Flute, Harp, Violin, Mariachis, Riviera Maya, Cancun, Mexico

It's a wedding planning company but the girl who posted it said like mots of us she doesn't need a planner (b/c she has the resort's planner), but for a $100 co-ordination fee this company was willing to arrange musicians for her.

The prices are a LOT cheaper than going through Secrets!
EVen after paying the Secrets $100 outside vendor fee, plus the company's $100 co-ordination fee -- it's still cheaper...

I've sent them an e-mail asking for some information, and when I hear back I'll post what they say:-)

For Maroma Beach pictures copy and paste the link Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun Packages, Mexico into your browser and then click on the agency photos link on the left hand side of the page and it brings up pictures from their trip to Maroma Beach for the grand opening. We visited the resort in August but forgot the camera for this hotel trip (I know - -how did that happen?) so I personally do not have any but thought that the personal pictures on this website were great...THE HOTEL IS AMAZING!!! Cecilia Reyes [weddings@secretsmaromabeach.com.mx] is the WC and although we decided on Secrets Capri (a bit smaller) she was quick to respond to any questions that I had. The two hotels are very similar...same restaurants, etc. the Maroma Beach location is just much bigger and has more pools. I hope that this helps!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
