Secrets Silversands and/or Maroma Beach

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies on this thread!

I am getting married at Secrets Maroma on Dec. 7, 2008...

And BELIEVE me, I've been monitoring the TripAdvisor forums etc for any scrap of info!

I am also waaaay into planning (have already exchanged about 3,000 e-mails with the wedding coordinator) so have lots of info, which I'm more than happy to share....

(e.g. I have food menus, know who the resort photographer is, have a price list for all the "extras" etc )

Please -- just let me know what info you want!

Cheers:-)

Oh, girl!!! I would love to hear ALL about it!!! Who are you dealing with? Do you like him/her? I was just about to write a random e-mail to the generic address to see about setting up an initial meeting when we are down there in November. Are you using their photographer? Do you have to? I would love, love, love to see your menus, price, lists, the works!

We just booked our August 2009 wedding at Secrets Maroma two days ago, and the new wedding coordinator Cecilia Reyes has been fabulous so far! (Cecilia Reyes <weddings@secretsmaromabeach.com.mx>) She said that Antonieta (the woman I was dealing with before her) strictly does groups now so Cecilia is the lady to talk to. They sent me their bouquets files/cakes files/and the Q&A for the wedding (we're doing a symbolic wedding only) - so if you need anything let me know and I can definitely share info as well, although the other ladies who will be there in December will have more information faster I'm sure!!

Does anyone have details about the live music options at the resort? We want to book the mariachi for the ceremony and cocktail reception, but the prices are pretty steep ($650 for 45 minutes!) - although the pricing guide says that they are willing to negotiate if you purchase more than one 45-minute block. Anyone had an experience with this? Thanks!

More than happy to share...I'm new here though so I'm not sure how to post some things...Am I even allowed to post these things (may be big files)? I'll figure it out, and if not, then maybe I can just send them to you directly (to your e-mail)?

The other girl who's getting married there just posted he wedding coordinator's contact deats...So far, Cecilia's been really good at getting back to me quickly...There does seem to be a bit of a language barrier I think, so sometimes you have to ask a question a couple times and in a couple different ways to get an answer:-)

The resort photographer is Juan Navarro...if you google him you can find his website. If you buy a package, you HAVE to use him, OR, you can bring in an outside photographer for $100...which is, I think, what we're going to do...
(BUT, you will receive no credit towards your package...Cecilia's been pretty clear there are NO SUBSTITUTIONS!:-) aaach.)
Also, I've seen posting on this forum about Juan if you want to read what other think of his work...

In fact, ANY outside vendors you have to pay $100 to bring in...DJ, band, etc...

As far as the price list goes, (I'll tryto post it)...SOME things they still don't have prices for (they're still negotiating with suppliers...) So, for example, having a mariachi band for two sets...they still can't give a price for that yet...

I know I can tell you that tikki torches, which aren't on the price list, cost $8/each...they don't yet have prices for candles...
Other things NOT on the price list...
Menu cards...$1/each
Placecards ...$.50/each...
Seating chart/sign for guests (if you do assigned seating)...complimentary...(yay -- something free!)

Okay, let me figure out how to post this stuff!

Okay, last posting for tonight I promise!

(I'm just so excited to share :-))

EMSpiers, you were wondering which was better, Silversands or Maroma...

Well, I've been addicted to this one TripAdvisor forum where people who are going to either one or both of these new resorts are reporting back what they see/experience...

(and actually, if you read through the whole thread, it's quite funny...people insulting each other, like a soap opera! good entertainment:-))

Anywaaay, here are some links that one of the people posted to some pictures they took at both Maroma and Silversands just like two days ago...

The general consensus on the forum, BTW, is that Maroma's beach is waaaaay better than Silversands...but you can decide:-)

Here are those links (hope they work! you'll probably have to copy and paste the URL into your browser):

Maroma pics:

Silversands pics:

And, if you want to check out the forum thread for yourself, here's the link to that:

Enjoy!

Simistar, you are my new hero!! i read this post one day and not too much was on here and i check back about a day and a half later and you have written so much and provided so much info!! thank you so much for posting this information. it'll be exciting to read all of your posts along the way. My fi and i are getting married at Secrets Maroma next April so we're in the process of booking our rooms as we speak. i do prefer the rooms at Silversands over the ones at Maroma but Maroma's beach is to die for and i can't afford Maroma (Orient Express) this is about as close as i can get :)

Thanks again!

I know what you mean about the Orient Express Maroma...I fell in love with it until I saw the rates:-)
Once again -- if there's anything else I can help with, just ask!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
