$Cost of DW - Request for info from all brides - mini study

Recommended Posts

After reading this post:

The crazy statistican came out in me, and I didn't want to highjack the post with this request but I am curious to know this info - i think it could be a neat study (i am a closet geek of a statistican).

I read everyone's comments and am curious about the cost of a DW and it's correlation with the number of guests that attend - I ask this because as brides we worry that we are asking too much of our friends and family to spend for a DW - but I wonder if it matters.

I am curious to know the following (fill in the blanks):

_________ $ for 7 nights occupancy (double) - cheapest room option possible at your resort (inc airfare and taxes)

_________ # of invites sent

_________ # of guests attending

_________ Resort Name

_________ # of stars of resort

ME:

$1415 $ for 7 nights occupancy (double) - cheapest room option possible at your resort (inc airfare and taxes)

144 # of invites sent

77 # of guests attending

Barcelo Marina Palace, Varadero Cuba Resort Name

4.5 # of stars of resort

RESULTS as per ~*petals*~ advice!

So I noticed someone looking to see what the ratio's were for guests attending a DW and the number of invites sent, when I realized that Results of my poll hadn't been posted...

Without further ado... this is pretty neat!!! drum.gif

ALL $AMOUNTS ARE FOR PER PERSON BASED ON DOUBLE OCCUPANCY AIRFARE AND ROOM INCLUDED AT ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS!

The average cost to guests attending a DW is

$1765
The median cost is very close as well
$1700

The average number of invites sent to invite guests to a DW is

73 Invitations

The average DW has

34 guests in attendance

The median for attendance is slightly lower

29 guests in attendance

I think think this is really cool - regarding the number of guests attending versus the number of invites sent....

55% of people invited to a DW actually GO!

WOWZERS!

Thanks for participating!

Fun survey, although my answers are kinda boring due to my limited guest list(since I stopped inviting people when I found out our wedding party couldn't come)

1500$, 1600$ & 1900$ (from Ottawa, Halifax and Winnipeg respectively) for 7 nights occupancy (double) - cheapest room option possible at your resort (inc airfare and taxes)

12 (immediate family + BM / MOH and their spouses)# of invites sent

8 (immediate family only)# of guests attending

Dreams Tulum Resort Name

5 # of stars of resort

*those who didn't come, it had nothing to do with the cost of the resort (they are teachers who could only go away during school breaks or for a weekend, so I guess in that sense it's indirectly a money thing because it's not worth it cost wise to go down south for 2 days)

My #'s are a little skewed as our hotel is not finished. Many of our guests will not be paying for hotel as we have booked our residences for the week.

We didn't do a room block so our guests' costs were all different.

Yari - it's only $553 for 7 nights including air?? That's crazy cheap! Is that a TA rate or how the heck did you work that out?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
