Dress Problems - Your Quick Thoughts

Recommended Posts

I got a sample dress for A LOT LESS! A lot!

Soooo, ask if she would be willing to give you more of a discount. She knows you're interested, that's why she only offered 120 bucks off.

I think if it's "the dress" then try haggling down.

If she doesn't go down in price, see if another bridal store carries it, order it there, and then ask for a full refund from the first place. They should give you the $$$ back since they weren't able to provide the right dress for you.

If you LOVE the dress take the deal...did you try calling the designer? If there is a cutting ticket for other orders (from anywhere/any store) that have not been completed yet they can tag you on to the order. I also work in garment district in NYC I specialize in dresses if you let me know the designer name I can call if I know them ...PM me I don't do a lot of bridal but worth a chance

I agree. I think they should give you a better deal for the sample dress. Cleaning alone is probably going to cost you the 120. Look online. If you know the designer and style you should hopefully find it. If you want you can tell us and we can help.

I agree with everyone else. If that's THE dress see if you can get a better deal! Search around and see if you can find it cheaper elsewhere and if you do just tell them I found it cheaper elsewhere. After they hear that they may knock the price down instead of offering a discount. Good Luck!

thanks everyone the dress is made by Exclusive Brides and the style number is 552020. I do love the dress she did offer to have the dress cleaned the last time I talked to her, but my concern is the top has a lot of bead work, my mom bought me the dress(shes the best) and she does not feel comfortable nor do I to take the dress from the salon without it fitting, so they will have to add the bead work when the let it out then if I loose weight they will have to take it back in. Ugh I am so confussed I did look for the dress online but can not find it and I have called a number of stores that carry Allure Bridal - Exclusive Bridal dresses but have had no luck. The dress was $1000(which was the max I wanted to spend) and I am afraid by the time I am done I will be paying a lot more for a dress that was the floor model.

I agree that you should get a deeper discount on the dress.

Also be careful to take a good look at the dress. The sample gowns get tried on a lot and there could be damage that you didn't see while you were trying it on simply because you just were not looking for it.

Have you thought about having the gown recreated?

I did think about having the dress recreated but we only have 6 months. I am really annoyed bc I first found the dress in April paid for it in full but wanted to loose weight so they said I had until August to order, I think the shop should know when the designer will stop cutting the dress.

I talked to the owner today and this is what she will do and that is it... She will have the dressed cleaned, and fix all beading on the dress so it is like new. Then she will drop it off at the lady who they recommend to do alterations on Tues and I will go there on Wed for a fitting and have the dress fitted to my current size. I will talk to the lady who will do the alterations to make sure that she is able to let the dress out and add the beading so it is not noticeable that the dress was let out. The owner will not do anything else if she can let it out, will not take off any more money because she said she got the dress in April and only a handful of people tried it on and they did not wear it for long. She has only been in business for 2 years so it has not been around for a long time like a lot of other stores. She thinks I am over reacting that I want the dress let out now since I still plan on loosing 15lbs before the wedding and she said "I will pay to have the dress let out but not for taking it back in or any other alterations." She thinks I should wait until Nov to have the dress let out if necessary... Nov are you kidding me my wedding is in Feb and if the dress can not be let out then what do I dohuh.gif

I called a couple other bridal shops and a lot of dresses take 6 months to come in I do love the dress so I am going to go with it and see what happens on Wed, if I am not comfortable I will start looking for a new dress... ugh!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
