Lindsey-
When did you get the new price info? We were planning on using the Ipod for music, but decided this weekend that we want the DJ. I don't want to ask anyone to handle the ipod. We are still debating between 2 & 4 hours. With a small group, two hours will probably be enough.

Have either of you reserved the sky terrace for the reception? Is dinner served outside or inside one of the resturants?
I will probably just do them myself. We are using the sky terrace for the wedding and plan to do cocktail hour on the rooftop following the ceremony and then use the ballroom for the private reception indoors. What are you planning on doing?

I am online now trying to find "the one" invitation! I only need 10 invites, so i'm having a hard time finding a company that will sell them individually. I have a few sites, so I am going to pick one by the end of the day! With such a small group, I am debating what to do after the wedding ceremony. I read on these posts that Palace resorts does not allow any outdoor wedding activity to go past 10p. I guess it depends on what time they slot us for dinner. Do we know if they allow us to reserve the terrace for our reception? If so, I would like to rent that for 2 hours. I probably don't need the reception with such a small group, but I want to do the first dance, father daughter dance, etc. I guess i will add these questions to my list to ask when I finally hear from someone. :)

Laura-

Have you tried any of the shops locally that make the invitations in house? You might have some luck there. I made my own, and to be quite honest, it was very simple and I saved a TON of money. I used cardstock scrapbooking paper with a fabulous two-sided design. It took a while to find turquoise/orange paper. I created 4X6 cards by cutting the 12X12 paper and inserted a 4X6 picture to create a small book by using a hole punch to punch 2 holes and tied it with satin ribbon. They were very unique~ no one could believe that I made them.

In speaking with Valeria, she did not mention that there was any sort of cost for reserving the sky terrace. I assumed that it came as part of the wedding package (I even chose the free one.) I am having my ceremony at 6 on the wedding terrace with the reception immediately following on the sky terrace. Valeria did mention that we could only stay on the terrace until 10:30- I guess because it is outdoors and it would be loud. I just found this on the website:

Our Free Symbolic, Non Denominational Wedding Package includes the following:

"Sky Deck" terrace, including a wedding structure decorated with natural flowers

On the a/v pricing, I received it from Valeria when I went to the resort Sept. 29th. She didn't mention that they had switched companies and we have spoken on numerous occasions since then.

Still curious about bringing in my own DJ. Lots of the girls on the forum talk about DJ Mannia, but I haven't asked Valeria yet if she would allow it. I will find out!

Good evening!

I ordered my invitations today, so I can check that off the list. Since I am not crafty, I decided to order them.

What are your men wearing during the wedding? We are thinking about a linen suit, but it's the wrong time of year now to look for that. Does anyone know if Palace resorts rents suits? I sent my FL w/c an email to ask her.

Also, is the wedding terrace on the sky terrace? I know that there is a pool and a bar on the roof top, but I am not sure where the wedding terrace and sky terrace are located in comparison to that. Any input would be great!

Thanks again for all the info.

Have a great night

Hello all!

The wedding terrace is actually located above the rooftop pools and bar....Lindsey has a great pic of it actually. FYI...Lindsey my colors are like a shimmery mettalic tiffany blue and shimmery burnt orange color!! I made my STD passports using these colors and am going to do the boarding pass myself. i also saved a chunk of money but would have ordered like you did Laura if it were just a few people. The trick is to go with what you love because you will only do this once :) Invites in STDs alone would have cost thousands if I would have brought them.

About the suit rental....good question. We are planning on doing linen suits, but we haven't been ou of actually look for them yet. My FI is a little worried about renting there and having the cut or something fit differently or not the right color. So I'm guessing we will bring from home but you never know. Kindsey do you happen to know anything about this??

It's soooo nice to finally have other brides using this location so we can find out more and more info everyday and share ideas :)

Good evening ladies-

Just wanted to say Hello. Got an email today from my FL wedding cord. She said that my onsite w/c will contact me approx 3 months prior to the wedding to answer my questions. Nice.. Next week will be 3 months, so I may just call back 3 months to the date to ask my questions. I am not going to stess about it. I know that everything will work out in the end. My next mission is to find Matt a suit to wear to the wedding. I suggested a silk or linen. We are looking online now, because we are not going to find either of those in Chicago now.

I'm glad that you guys have been able to answer some of my questions!

Laura~ I am glad that you heard back from someone! I have heard several girls say that once they were 3 months prior, they had no problems getting in touch with their wedding coordinators. I guess they are so busy they are forced to prioritize by wedding date.

Re: my FI attire- he will be wearing a tan linen suit, unless he can talk me out of it before then. Odds are- he will wear it and he will like it! July wedding will be hot, so I might be persuaded once we get there, but he will at least take a few pics with the jacket on. My dress is too dressy for him not to wear the jacket~ I think our pics would look funny if he wore something else. We will probably buy ours before we get there, because he is a bit metro and would FREAK if the suit didn't fit right. I hope this helps!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
