Hey we are trying to get married in Veradero. We want to leave here on Dec 8th. We are lost on what documents we need to have, how many days we have to be in Cuba before we can get married, and what has to be translated in Spanish and what does that cost? Any help would be awesome as we are running outta time. Thanks Jim and Janna

I just "bumped" the thread "is your marriage in Cuba legal in Canada?" for you. That one should be a good one for you to look through as many of your questions were discussed there. Also, here are a couple websites with information on the legal requirements, documents required, etc.....I believe it is 3 days in Cuba before you can get married.

The Blau doesn't have a 'symbolic ceremony' but they have a renewal of vows ceremony. My mother and her fiancée just changed to it because they were finding it too hard to get all the paperwork done in time and the cost was getting ridiculous (over $1500 to get everything translated and legalized b/c they are both divorcees.). They are going to get married in Canada first and then have the ceremony in Cuba.

The renewal of vows ceremony costs $250 CUC. Let me know if you want the package details and I can send them to you.

Thanks for the info, Heather.

Does anyone know what they do for music for the beach ceremony? Is there a stereo & microphone available? We asked the WC about having a couple of musicians play during the ceremony and were quoted 200 CUC for them to play for 30 minutes. We thought that was a bit steep.

We had a great time at the Blau. We did have a HUGE problem on our wedding day though. When we met with the WC March 2009 on our planning/scouting trip, they told us we could have an outside photographer we wrote this down with our notes about the Blau & wedding package. So we booked a photographer and the Blau. They then told us a few weeks before the wedding (many months later and after we paid a 50% deposit on our photog) that we could only use the resort photog. We were not at all happy! They then said that if the photographer was our friend on a day pass he would be allowed in. We had no other choice than to say he was and he said he would also say he was our friend. Otherwise we would have lost a lot of money and it would have been too late to find a new photographer we liked.

The day of the wedding, the Blau's WC would not let our photographer in! So I find out about an hour before my wedding as I am getting in my dress that we have no photographer. We were not happy with the WC. The day before our wedding, people at the front desk had told my husband and I that as long as he brought his passport the day of the wedding he would be allowed in no problem. But apparenly the WC had other plans. Apparently the Cuban government is cracking down on people coming to Cuba on a tourist visa and taking wedding photos, but it seems like the Blau is the only one enforcing this right now. (our photog did a wedding the previous week in Cuba with no problems)

So I recommend the Blau for a vacation, but would not recommend it for a wedding, especially if you are not using the resort photographer. The WC really didn't seem to care that because she was "out to get" our photographer she was greatly effecting our wedding day. In my opinion, the WC should do all they can to make the wedding couple happy on their big day. Proessional photos were very important to us and now we have none of our wedding day thanks to her. She could have easily looked the other way and let him in on a day pass as our friend as the front desk was willing to do and told us it would be fine. But instead she made a big deal out of it and went out of her way to not let him in.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
