I'm getting married in Key West and chose it because of how laid back we feel when we visit. The "white" beach pics in the Key West links are of Smather's Beach, for which you can have your wedding there for free, and possibly a sandy area in Ft. Zachary, for which there is a site fee of 300-500. They have amazing sunsets and a wide variety of things for your guest to do which is another reason we chose the location. Southernmost on the beach has a little "private beach" and have somewhat affordable wedding packages. Melissa at Southernmost Beach Hotel collection is great and you could contact her for more info. You might be able to do the ceremony and wedding there within your budget. Let me know if you have any other questions.

BTW, the drive is not that bad from Miami, it's quite scenic. There's also a ferry from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami which is 4 hours, but no one has to drive.

I am getting married on the beach at fort Zach where the ocean mets the intracoastal. Its beautiful! Smathers beach is nice (white sand and all) however it is a public beach so there may be that one weirdo wearing a speedo watching your wedding or a woman sunbathing in a thong next to the ceremony site. Thats what turned us from using that beach. As far as flights go there is a direct flight I think on delta from atlanta direct to key west airport. Atl is pretty big so a lot of connecting flights fly into it. But the drive from MIA is nice.

I'm heading to shoot a destination wedding at the Doubletree beach resort today in North Redington Beach. That's here in the Pinellas / West Coast (of Florida) area. They're coming down from Wisconsin to get married on the beach!

I'll let you know how it turns out and see if I hear anything about pricing. I try to get to know the resort coordinators and other vendors any time I go to shoot any event ... Can't hurt just to have some extra info on hand.

Hope you're able to find a spot that you love soon! :)

I would recommend going south. I live in the north western part of Florida and even though we have some gorgeous white beaches I would not go to the beach in January! It gets pretty cold here especially with the humidity. it kind of chills you to the bone, KWIM? Key West would be great and maybe look into Clearwater.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
