Resort Reviews

Recommended Posts

I have become addicted to reading reviews on the resort for my wedding (Moon Palace) and I am driving myself insane. It's just under a year until my wedding and can't imagine what I will be like when the date gets closer. I just want everyone to have a great vacation. Lately some of the reviews have been negative and it is stressing me out.

Just thought I would throw this out there - see if any other brides are having this problem.

Sorry this is so stressful. I actually was looking at the Moon Palace, but the reviews started getting me nervous too. I have now switched to my current plan of the Gran Bahia Akumal.

I think the Moon Palace has a lot of great things to offer, plus, depending on the time of year that you go, I think the price is reasonable. Most of the negatives I heard were of the beach, but the pools are gorgeous. And almost every wedding review I read said that they loved it. Not to mention their wedding packages contain a lot!

I think you have to consider the group of people that will be going. Is a beach important to them? Is a large facility OK? Those type of questions. I think no matter what you'll have a great wedding!

We have been considering MP for our wedding too. I was one of the people who had heard negative things from someone who had been there recently for a wedding. We're looking at other resorts after hearing from our friend, but haven't excluded MP, either. I would say to check online with some photo websites (like webshots)... you'll get photos taken by guests, not the pros who doctor things and make them look better. Also, check Trip Advisor and read their reviews. Everyone always has something to complain about, but what I do is look for the consistant complaints and that tells me whether it's valid or not.

It's always a risk--- someone is going to fall through the cracks with customer service and someone is going to shine in the spotlight. It's the nature of service industries...

I have been using Tripadvisor and your right - someone will always complain about something. We mainly picked MP for the weddings - I love the gazebos, horse drawn carriage and the package seems great, wedding coord is responsive. That is one constant positive review - their weddings. It's just that it could be a VERY long week if some guests are unhappy. All I can hope for is that everyone will be in a celebrating mood and make the best of it. I can see some of our complaining to us, which is what makes me nervous.

Thanks for the help!

We actually honeymooned at MP and abso-friggin-lutely loved it! No complaints at all. We have some good friends who go back at least once each year...they've tried some other AI's in the area (Riu and such) and still prefer MP. I think one of the biggest perks is the variety of food/restaurants available. If you're definitely doing an AI I think that's one of the best for food.

As far as the beach goes...that is the one negative that I've heard consistantly too. And once I got there, I understood it. The beach itself is fine, totally fine. Lots of white sand, little hut/umbrellas, chairs, drink service etc. The water however is very "seaweed-y" There weren't a ton of people in the water at any given time. It's fine but most people are kinda' squeamish about seaweed and stuff touching them while they're swimming - which is understandable.

But really, that's it. I promise. I didn't see anything else that would make me think twice about reccomending the resort to anyone. And honestly, unless you're going to be spending a lot of time in the ocean - it's really not that big of a deal. It wasn't to us anyway. The pools are amazing and if you're really looking to splash around in the waves, the resort offers shuttle transportation (free) to any of their neighboring resorts...they have two others that are very close and our friends that go to MP each year usually just go up to one of the other resorts for an "ocean day" when they decide they want a break from the pool.

Also, I saw lots of weddings while we were there...now obviously we don't know any of the behind the scenes info but they all seemed to go well, very organized, very pretty and the people seemed to be having fun.

Ok, so that was super long! I hope that helped a little...let me know if you have any other questions! hug2.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
