Tipping etiquette

I had not even thought about tipping until I read this and another thread. I think I'm just going to be tipping the wait staff/bartenders at the reception and the officiant but I won't be tipping the officiant $100. I'm bringing a photographer from home and I'm already paying for his airfare and the WC that I'm working with now is not the same one who is going to be at the resort. I won't even talk to the WC at the resort until I get there so unless the WC at the resort blows me away with something she does, I don't think I'm going to tip her.

woohooo!!! nothing like tacking on another couple hundred buck to the wedding bill.

 

jk- I am going to tip WC, officicient, dj, photographer, and waitstaff. None of which ever crossed my mind before this thread but if their happy they will make me happy!!

 

def doing 50ish for most except WC i'll prob tip her more.

I am glad I found this post! My wedding coordinator has "service" fee in my expense spreadsheet. I assume this is the tip. Is this correct? If it is, she has it set at 15% for EVERYTHING. I have read all the posts in here and most of you are basing how much of a tip you give on how the vendors performance is. So since the service fee is already set at 15% this means I don't get to choose how much of a tip they get. Unless of course the "service" fee is not considered the tip.

 

So if I spend $1000 on flowers I have to pay $150.00 tip to the florist. How about the microphone for the ceremony and the speakers for the Ipod... should I have to pay a tip for those things?

 

I better get an email to my WC!!!

My WC also has a service fee added of 15%, I don't know if that 15% actually goes to her or the hotel so I may give her some money anyway. I was also planning on tipping the DJ, waitstaff, the girl that does my hair/make-up.

 

Kelie, I also have a "mexican trio" playing at my cocktail hour and it didn't even cross my mind to tip them, I guess I should. By the way I love you save the date.

HELP - I'm really confused on who to tip and how much...i leave for my wedding in less than 60 days and after reading this post,i'm still confused..should I tip everyone that is a part of my wedding:

 

Coordinator, Photographer, Officiant, DJ, Bartenders, Wait Staff, Trio, Hair/makeuphuh.gif?

 

Anyone recently married at any location?? Any advice or "tips", LOLhuh.gif THANKS!!!

Oh my gosh, I am so happy that I found this thread! I didn't even think about this! We are doing it at an all inclusive where tipping is not allowed. Did anyone come up with a concensus of what is appropriate in this situation? Also, we are flying out our photog and paying for their stay/airfare so isn't that enough (in addition to their photog fee)?? Do we really need to tip on top of that?

Photographers (team of 3, 10 hours of work): $50 each, total $150

 

Mariachi Band (7 piece band, 45 minutes of work): $10 each, total $70

 

Priest: $250, I just asked him what he wanted me to donate

 

Co-ordinator: Personalized jewelry, vintage wine

 

Hairstylist: $10 for trial and $20 for wedding

 

Maid: $2-$3 every day

 

Bartenders: $1-$2 per order

 

Waiters: $1-$2 at buffet, $5 at a la carte

 

Taxi: I was told tip is not needed but I tipped $1-$2 if it was really late at night

 

Bellboy: $2 per bag

 

Guy who calls cabs for you: I gave him $10 at the end of our trip

 

Limo Driver on Wedding Day: $20

 

6 Vans to transport guests to church: I asked each passenger to give the driver $1/each. About 12-13 passengers in each van

 

Tour guides on excursions: $5
