Tipping etiquette

Recommended Posts

Good point!  I wouldn't want to be stressing about when and where to give the tip, not to mention where I'd even hold all of these enevelops, lol.

When is the best time for the tips to be distributed?

Tipping is definitely include for your vacation, that includes all the housekeeping and waiter/waitress as the restaurant and bar. However, when it comes down to the wedding, a lot of these people are just serving you and your guest for a certain amount of period. They are not at all accessible by other hotel guest.

So for this reason, I think tipping would be much appreciated to those who just serve you only for your special day. :)

I do not think tipping is included in your expenses. Technically you haven't paid for a service and that's what your tipping on. Anytime I go away I always tip housekeeping, bartenders anyone who does something for you. Yes it's their job but at the end of the day is $5 going to get you. We will be tipping our vendors including wc,dj,photographer and videographer. Depending on the price you tip according. Usually when you tip the servers they go above and beyond and its not a crazy amount. I've tipped at both AI and regular hotels. I personally think it's the right thing to do. Ps your best man and maid of honor distribute envelopes. :)

This thread has been so helpful!  What do you do if your WC is not the same person you will deal with once you arrive at the resort?  I have a WC right now through Lomas and once I get on site I will have a different WC to meet with.  Am I expected to tip them both?

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question....

But when tipping the wait staff - should I be asking someone to chase each one down before the end of the night and tip them all separately? Should the chef's be tipped too, if I am having a private dinner/reception?

Hopefully this isn't a "tacky" question to be asking my WC. I had no idea tipping wasn't allowed at all inclusive resorts? (Based on previous posts)

I've stayed at 4 different all-inclusives (Mexico and DR) and have always tipped wait staff/bartenders, bellman, housekeeping, and those who restock the mini bar (NOT the same person as the housekeeper). It isn't required, but it was certainly allowed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
