I think I am having both my mother & father walk me. They are seperated...and I am by far closer to my mom. I would rather just my mom walk me, but I don't want to be too harsh to my dad. If my step-father was alive (he passed away 18mths ago) I was going to have both him & my bio father walk me (since my step-father was the one who practically raised me).

I guess you can do whatever you feel is right & what you want to do. Maybe you could walk by yourself...I don't think there is anything that says you cannot to that! Then you could have all your family (mom, bros, sons) say "we do" when they ask who is giving you away.

I walked myself down the aisle, but stopped in the middle, and FI walked up the aisle to get me, then we walked down the rest of the aisle together. When I stopped in the middle, I think some of the guests were surprised and thought maybe I had changed my mind, lol!

i can relate to what you saying .. my father passed away when I was very young .... at first I thought it should be one of my brothers .. then I thought I would have them both walk me down the isle ... but in the end I decided it really just needed to be the one person that has been there for me the most .. my mom. I do not really think that you need to follow tradition so I would go with what feels good to you!

Whatever you want! And whatever makes you feel comfortable. You can skip that part of the ceramony if you want. Or use that space to honor your dad by presenting your mom with a rose or something.

DW are special because you can make it your own and no one will think it is off!

Best wishes!

Of my side of the family who's attending is my old brother, a half older brother, my mom, my daughter (flower girl), my boys ages 2 and 9 who one will be ring bearer.

The second question is who gives the bride away? Would this person be the one who walks me down the aisle?? smile105.gif
I am having my son walk my down the aisle, and he and my mother will give me away. My father lives out the country so he will not be attending.

This is what I did too, but then the minister never asked who was giving me away, i guess he thought since i walked by myself that my parents weren't there or something.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
