Solis the Palmyra

Recommended Posts

MLK - I would love to hear what you think of Solis firsthand. I know the pictures and website look great, but I'm really interested to see how things are coming along, since they delayed their opening until March 2009, which is getting close to my wedding...so thanks in advance for the info and hope you have a great trip.

I think they are comparable in price to other nearby resorts. I did briefly look at Half Moon and the Ritz in Montego Bay and Moon Dance Villas in Negril. I got better room prices at Solis, for sure. In terms of food/alcohol I think they'll be pretty similar to Half Moon & the Ritz, meaning pricey. I think all resorts do this, they suck you in with some amazing deal (like cheap accomodations) and then charge you a ton for food..but its to be expected...

They don't seem to have strict outside vendor policies, as long as they are insured. I also didn't see any wedding packages, like at some of the other resorts, which is fine by me. I'm having a traditional Hindu ceremony, and an all vegetarian reception...which they have said they can accomodate without a problem..so I think they're pretty flexible overall...but they should be for the amount we're paying!! Will add more info as I get it.

Congratulations MLK! I have spoken and gotten emails that have ranted and raved about the Solis The Palmyra. I think we talked early on regarding the Rose Hall Resort, I really don't regret not going with them. My travel agent sent me an email from a Bride's father who had a wedding there and he was so pissed.

From what I understand, The Palmyra resort is very upscale and the when it is finished, it will look beautiful. Some many photographers have told me that the resort will have a beautiful background for pictures. I was nervous about being one of the guinea pigs but I feel like I made a really good decision. I went back and forth with Mayline but she was so accomodating and very easy to work with. She always is happy to speak to me even though I know I am turning into a bridezilla! LOL

What is your wedding date, ours is 6.20.09? I noticed on another post, you stated that were going to do a site visit. If you did, would you mind sending me pictures if you have any.

I am going to see if it is in our budget to go the weekend it opens.

Let's keep in touch!

Again, CONGRATS!!!!!!!

mabride09.......can you email me privately: virtuous_one98@hotmail.com I am very close to choosing Rose Hall and am very interested in hearing what went wrong. I do know that the WC is not the most responsive, which is starting to get frustrated. I've emailed the contact at the Solis for more information because if I have to, I'll switch before we sign anything with Rose Hall. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
