Thanks,

while i was planning my wedding, there was only one other member getting married at the yucatan. then at the last minute, the hotel was overbooked and she had to switch resorts. so i empathize with you about having no one to get info from. i'm very serious when i say that my wedding went exactly the way i wanted. BUT i'm also a very laid back person so yea, there were things that weren't perfect, but i just didn't care. there is much more info on this resort now, then there was when i joined so just read everything and roll with the punches.. smile72.gif

Where in the resort are you getting married? How many people are coming to your wedding? There seems to be very few of us at the Yucatan.

Thanks,

Tamasin

Hey All-

Katrina I am curious about the switch to a religous ceremony... We are having a quick legan ceremony before we go and picked the symbolic ceremony- but we want to say vows as well- did you end up going with the religious after all? And did it cost more?

thanks!!

Hi Katrina, thanks for all of your info!
I'm in the same boat you were in terms of the ceremony: We will be legally married before we get to Mexico but we want our guests to believe that the Riu ceremony is the real thing. We also don't want it to be too religious, we do want it in English, and we don't want to get blood tests/legal paperwork in Mexico. With your religious wedding: was it very religious? In english? Did you have to get bloodwork?
How about the option of a "vow renewal" wedding? Did you look into this?

Thanks :-)

it's called a "religious" ceremony, but that's very misleading. you can supply your own vows (in english) and the minister will read them. no one has any idea that ours wasn't legal and we just used the vows from las caletas, which are really beautiful. i don't recommend the vow renewal wedding as you can't change the vows and it's very obvious that it's just a recommitment ceremony, not a wedding. hope that helps.. bunny_4.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
