What should I do for my Hair Stylist??

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm trying to figure out what to do about my Hair Stylist! I have been with the same hair stylist for about ten years, and she has never done me wrong! I COMPLETELY want her to come to Punta Cana, mostly as a friend and invitee, but I'd also love for her to do my hair! What is the best etiquette for this?? Either way, I plan on inviting her, and she has mentioned that she wants to go, and would love to do my hair, but I'm not sure what exactly I should offer to pay? Just for the hair? The room? On a side note, she also does just about all of my friends hair too, so if she went, she would probably have at least 5 other girls to do.... Thanks for any suggestions! I want to treat her right, but don't know whats the best thing for both of us!!

I'm trying to decide on the very same thing with both my hair stylist & makeup artist!!!

They both happen to be VERY good friends of mine & would be coming to the wedding regardless.

Although they are COMPLETELY against it, I'm paying for both of their flights to Puerto Rico. I just feel it's a great way to say thank you!

Exactly, along with paying for whatever she would charge you to do your hair at home. I'd also get her a very special gift as a thank you. Or if its in your budget pay for her flight. If not staying at an AI, get her a nice room credit so she's able to charge stuff back to her room.

I would offer to pay for her a night or two of her accommodations and then for the hair. She probably will refuse... they always do...hahaha! I too am bringing my hair and make up and we paid for her accommodations, she's taking care of her airfare. Since her and I work on trade I won't be paying for my hair and make up but all my girls will be... So she'll still be making money too.

Thank you so much for the advice! She will be bringing her husband, so I was thinking maybe of offering to pay for a few nights at the hotel, which is AI. Then she can charge me whatever for the hair, and my girls will get their hair done by her too, so she will make some money while on vacation! Hopefully that will be fair to them, and not cost me too much money??

I would say plan on and expect to pay for her to do all the girls hair (as a wedding gift to your BM's and as an obligatory expense for your hairdresser).

If she plans on coming regardless, you can offer to pay for part of her trip, but it's really not necessary if she is someone who would have been on the guest list anyway.

I invited my hair stylist that I have been going to for years. I paid for her flights, 2 nights at hotel, car rental (I got married in the states!), and 2 meals (well...rehearsal, morning of wedding breakfast, and reception). She styled 9 members in the bridal party. I had the gals tip her (~$25 from each person), so she could make some money. It worked out well for both parties! The bridal party didn't have to pay for up-do + tip at a local salon and my stylist made some money and a mini-vacay! I also gave my stylist the same bridal gift as my bridesmaids.

Good luck with your decision!

I live in New York City, my wedding is at Dreams Cancun Mexico. I am bringing my hairstylist and make up artist from Dominican Republic. I just love the way this girl does my hair and make up. I could not trust anybody else on that day. I am paying all her expenses (flight and hotel) plus we are paying for her work. I think it is worth it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
