Hi!

My name's Laura, my boyfriend (we hate the F word) is named Michael, and we're getting married at Dreams Tulum on 07/07/07.

We've been there a few times and fell in love with the chapel, although now that we've got a bigger group coming, the chapel is no longer an option. Bummer.

Anyway, I'm at a complete loss at all of this, having vowed when I was 6 to never get married. So while my cousins were flipping through magazines and building their trousseaus, I was, I don't know, riding my bike or something.

So, basically, HELP.

welcome laura. i've learned that this is one great thing about having a DW like this - typically the resorts or coordinators have these fabulous wedding packages that really involve very little thought on your part. you can make it be what you want - but i don't plan on doing much above and beyond what comes with my package!

We've probably got at least 20 people coming, but no attendants (aside from my nine year old son, who will be ringbearer). I have some nontraditional songs I want to walk down and off the aisle to. I think I already have my flowers picked out and all that.

I guess I'm mostly worried about two things: how to do invitations for the wedding and then the reception do when we get back (not everyone is invited to the wedding) and finding a spot for the reception. Actually, that is just about killing me right now. I can't really find anything to rent for under $4K and I am a VERY frugal bride (bought my dress off eBay) and refuse to pay that much.

Yikes. My stomache has hurt for 4 days straight, and I'm still five months out!

Welcome to the forum Laura!

I'm very similar to you in that I never had a "dream wedding" at all...I really didn't even think I would get married. I thought this whole process might be painful, but with the help & enthusiasm of the girls on this board it's actually been kinda fun! (shhh, don't tell).

The beauty of a DW is that you don't have to live up to preconcieved notions/expectations...you can really make it your own.

ahhh - it sounds like you've done a lot of the work already - whew!

i chose not to do an AHR (at home reception) just because i didn't want to deal with it. i am sure it's going to be super expensive! are there any local Austin brides on here that can suggest a location?!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
