Hi Andrea,

Oh that is close. Such a small world. Matt lived in Costa Mesa before we moved to HB.

Yes, we are getting legally married in Cabo. It was a super tough decisions for us but I really wanted it there.

Kelli, How much is Dreams charging for this service?

$150 which I thought was worth trying to drive somewhere in Mexico and go to a doctor or hospital or clinic or wherever you are supposed to have it done. I think its $100 anyway but I'm not sure. And it does have to be 48 hours before the ceremony.

Quick quesiton on this topic. We ran into the same problem where to get legally married and decided to do it hear in Chicago with the romantic ceremony in Cabo.

But, if you get legally married back here in the states before you leave for Cabo, does it effect your passport information, or any other issues with flying and entering Mexico?

Is it best to get legally married before or after Cabo?

We're getting married in the states legally. Since I'm adopted, I didn't want to deal with the paperwork issues. Plus, even tho I know it wouldn't be an issue, I hated the idea of having to wait until we got there to do things like view the wedding video and blood tests.... I'd be a ball of nerves waiting until the last minute like that to get the final approval on whether we could get married!

We're planning on doing the legal ceremony by ourselves on the anniversary of our first date. It's a day we celebrate anyways, so it sounded perfect for us. I'm probably the only bride I know who plans on celebrating our anniversary on our legal day. To me, that's the day we're becoming husband and wife--- and it's the only day that is truly about us. The celebration in Mexico with the cocktails, reception, dancing.... to me, that's more about our guests and taking care of them, not so much about us....

I think we are going to get legally married in Wisconsin, before we head down to Cancun. Just seems easier...and I faint every time I have blood drawn. I want to have time to work out some ceremony/reception details before guests begin to arrive, and then we want to be able to spend some time relaxing poolside with them. I guess I just don't want to be running around worried about tests and paperwork. Does anyone know what yo have to do to get legally married in the states? Or does it vary from state to state?

We're doing the whole shebang in Cabo.. if it helps anyone.. we're using Lazy Gourmet, and their wedding coordinator Patricia, she is setting the whole thing up for us. The blood tests are being done at our location prior to the wedding, and she's handled booking the judge and the run through. It actually has been very easy, and like many of you.. we wanted just one ceremony.

**If you don't like needles however.. best do it in the States.. **

You're date's coming up quick!

We also decided just to get married in Cabo. Has anyone ever heard that the paper work is difficult to translate once to get back to the states?? I hope it's not a problem. I'd like just to get it all done in one place.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
