Hi Ladies!!

I just joined this board yesterday so I am kinda new to this. But I was just in Jamaica a few days ago and I had an opportunity to speak with Charmane and she took me and my fiance on a tour of the property, and it is sooo huge!!! The rooms were all quite nice, even the basic room was beautiful. She showed me the four designated wedding areas on the property and for those of you who are looking at the gazebo as a location, there are currently in the process of moving that to a new location. It will be in a garden type setting but it overlooks the ocean, so you are getting the best of both worlds. From what I saw, when it is complete it will be quite breathtaking. She also mentioned that although they have designated areas, if you see another place on the property that you would much rather have then they would try their best to accommodate.

Everything else I saw everything was absolutely amazing. Because they just opened a little over a month ago there is still quite a bit of finishing touches going on... There were a few people still out landscaping and painting, the casino hasn't been completed, and I believe one of the buffet restaurants has yet to open. The beaches are still being worked on, and since they were all manmade they are trying to remove some of the rocks that are closer to the sand areas. They are also planning a second phase to the property which will add about 1000 more rooms, and make the property even more spectacular. I hope this helps :)

And from me, too! Thank you so much for letting us know how it went. Knowing that they are 'accomodating' to a degree makes me feel a whole lot better.

I've not been worrying TOO much, but it has always been in the back of my head that it is a new resort... and is somewhat of a gamble in the long run.

I know that all is going to be just perfect!

Did you get any pictures, by chance?

Hi Caroline - I am so happy to hear that you booked your site! cheer2.gif That is great. I hate to bother, but could you also send me the package information that you've sent other DW brides from GP? I too am looking at the GP (actually, it's at the top of my list) and would appreciate any information that you have regarding the property. I won't be getting married until next year (May OR June...I think!) so I really look forward to hearing how everything works out for you in a few months. I'm sure it will be wonderful & beautiful. My email is: virtuous_one98@hotmail.com

Caroline,

I do have a few pics from the GP but not as many as I would like because I gave my camera to my future brother-in-law so that I could pay full attention to Charmane while she showed us around... and unfortunately he didn't get pics of everything we saw. I have been kinda busy and haven't uploaded my pics but as soon as I do I will try to post them on here for you to see!!! And don't worry I'm sure everything will turn out to be just perfect. Take care!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi,

Thanks so much for posting those pictures!! It looks gorgeous. I just booked Grand Palladium Jamaica for our wedding on July 10, 2009! Those pictures definately eased any worries I had.

How was the Blue Lagoon restaurant? It looks pretty in the picture...Charmaine told me this was the only option for a 4 hour reception. Have you heard of any other places for longer reception dinners?

did she say when the gazebo was going to be ready??

Thanks so much!!!

You're welcome! I'm glad I could help. cheesy.gif

The Blue Lagoon is the only place available for a reception longer than 2 hours. It's only open for buffet breakfast & lunch -- I only had breakfast there & it was great. Overall I thought the food was pretty good. You can have your reception there for the $300 site fee.

Poseidon is the included restaurant for the Caribbean Package but you can't have music (band, DJ, etc.) there and you only get it for 2 hours.

She said the gazebo should be there in the next few weeks. When I was there, they were clearing out the leaves and whatnot and she said they'd be clearing out a few of the trees but still leaving enough to give a garden feel.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
