We don't pay for any of those things here, so I don't even have an idea of what things cost.

Sorry, I wish I could help you out, actually in this situation I am glad I don't know the answers :)
I'm only 21, so I dont really know much about this type of stuff... but I just assumed maternity related expenses were a part of regular insurance. I guess I will need to take this into account when I start looking for a job!

I forget that you Canadian girls are so fortunate to not have to worry about medical insurance or maternity insurance for that matter. Yes, it's insurance that covers you and the baby all through your pregnancy.

I'm with JulieG - up here in Canada. We are very lucky blush2.gif

I went in April to have a "discussion" with my wonderful doctor about prepping for babies and she didn't really do much. She had recently taken my blood for other reasons and I'd had a pap not too long ago, so I didn't get anything done.

My only thing to think about is whether or not I should try to go off the medication I'm on (Effexor). That's a whole other thread though, I'd assume :)

Good luck finding a comprehensive plan.

And good luck come January. We're on the same kind of 'plan'. FI and I are thinking of starting to try right after our Dec 12 wedding. Maybe you and I will end up being due date twins soon! It's so exciting smile03.gif

I never knew there was a such thing as maternity insurance. Any health insurance I've ever had, had pregnancy and pregnancy related things included in what we normally paid for the insurance.

So I guess I'm confused. Were you on a limited type of health insurance before, maybe paying a really low premium because it was just for you and basic doctors visits?

You should check with your companies insurance, Keiser?, and find out if you see an out of network doctor, how much the charge would be. It may just be that they'll only cover say 70% of your office visit and then you'd pay the rest out of pocket, but that wouldn't be too bad and you'd have good insurance when you went for your hospital stay.

I have 2 kids and I never heard of that type of insurance at all. I paid about $100 or so for all of my prenatal appointments and I just paid for that after my very first appointment and $50 deductible for the hospital visit when I delivered. I have really good health insurance. So that insurance is news to me.

Maybe I worded it wrong..Maternity bennefits? Does that make more sense than maternity insurance? My current insurance is Goldendrule it's full blown health insurance, but their maternity bennefits are CRAP! Like I said, if I were to get pregnant with my current insurance the most they would cover is $2,000. That doesn't include co-pays, and check-ups. That would leave me and my FI paying thousands of dollars out of pocket. So, I am trying to switch insurance companies. All of you seem to have it covered in your regular insurance, what companies do you have?

I have blue cross/blue shield right now and I used to have Aetna.
No not at all. Goldenrule is a branch out of Pacificare, and Keiser Permanente is big too, but are not available in every state. I called my doctors office and got a list of all the insurance companies they take. I am just going to go down the line and call each one and join the best one. Thanks ladies for you input!

It sounds like you just need to find better benefits!!! You could end up paying a lot!!! I have blue cross. I paid the initial co-pay 20.00/specialist (OB) and then 150.00 total for birth and three nights stay. My daughter was also covered. Now she is on my fi's insurance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
