Possibly going on STRIKE!

So here it is Friday, 4:23 pm & I am at my desk packing up all of my personal belongings. I work for Verizon and our contract is due to expire Sunday at 12:00 am. If the union and Verizon do not settle the contract before then, I WILL OFFICIALLY BE ON STRIKE on Sunday at 12:01 am!!!smile27.gif

As of now, our union officials have told us that it doesn't look good at all.

Sigh......Usually this wouldn't bother me too much but hubby & I are both Verizon employees so that means, NO MONEY COMING IN FROM EITHER OF US!!!!rant.gif We've been on strike before, but that was when we were dating & not part of the same household. And luckily, we've never been on strike for more than 1 week, although hubby faced a strike back in 1989 that was for 3 months!

Hubby & I have totally different feelings. He thinks we'll be out & about, on road trips, and I'm trying to figure out what bills we can pay and which we can skip! LOL

So, I am off, on my way home, with my stuff in a bag and I will sit in front of the TV & search the web for the rest of the weekend, looking for updatesworried2.gif and keeping my fingers & toes crossed that I will be coming to work on Monday! I don't mind a few days off, but anything more than that will be tough.

Here's some info I pulled up regarding the potential strike. For those of you who haven't heard about it yet, I'm sure the news will spread if the strike becomes official.

Yup, we've been picketting for 3 weeks at my office. I will have to do strike duty every day for the 1st week, for up to 4 hours a day, to send the company a "message". After the 1st week, we have to do 2 days a week, 5 hours each day!

I don't want to discourage you but I think its going to be tough. NY is in shambles right now economically and it is just not a good time to be asking for more concessions on a contract. I 100% think the workers should get better contracts but this economy is in such disarray (sp?) that I don't see them giving them what they want.

But I am def going to keep my fingers crossed for you and send you good vibes.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
