wedding in 6 months?

Hey all.

My guy and I decided on a destination wedding when we became engaged a few weeks ago. We are bringing along just our brothers and their girlfriends as well as two close friends. We have decided on Cuba and have narrowed it down to two resorts. We are hoping to book something in October or November for our January or February 2009 wedding. Are we crazy?

Anyone else have to deal with disappointing people who assumed they would be invited but won't be?

Am I crazy thinking that I can find a dress in October for a late January wedding? I would go shopping now, but I want to book first.

I have been a lurker for awhile and I want to thank you for all the help I have received thus far.

You aren't crazy! We got engaged in May, are getting married in January and I am almost completely done with everything and it's August 1st (I just like to plan and get things done early) The trickiest part is booking people in time, but if you are only having a few people it shouldn't be that difficult. As far as people being sad about not being invited, for us it was very important to have our parents, siblings, and a few close friends (we're having about 20 guests) There were a few people who tried to invite themselves but we knipped it in the butt right away, and told them that this is a private wedding, and that we will be having a big Colorado AHR when we return. If you choose January, you should Join our January Brides thread (we'll keep you right on track hehe) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21722

The funny thing about our wedding is that we invited my FI's best friend and he can't make it so he decided to give his invitation to someone else! What nerve. I have had many people make comments about not being invited and we decided to have an AHR in October.

You can totaly do it-plus the less waiting time-the sooner your day comes!!

We got engaged (officially memorial day weekend this year and our wedding is on 8/8! We had about 100 days!! ( Olympics countdown reminds us daily)

Best of luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
