Has anyone ever heard or used DJ Bob? I canâ€t find any reviews on him except on his website. He is inexpensive which works well for our budget. Below is a clip from his website. If anyone knows anything please pass the info along.. ban02.gif

“DJ BOB has over 10 years of experience in the entertainment business. This gives him the upper hand to most DJ's. Preparing for each event on an individualized basis makes your event like no other.â€

Thanks!!!! smile03.gif

Hey Guys! Just an update! I ended up going with DJBob!! I am pretty excited after talking to him. I donâ€t think he has fireworks or anything like that. But my wedding is very small so it works for us. He has good sound equipment and has a great personality, at least from what I can tell. I can check that off my list!!! I will let you guys know how it goes!!!

A review of DJ Bob from a reference he gave me:

Yes, we used DJ Bob for our tiny wedding in Akumal. He was awesome!! Definitely got everyone dancing the entire night (all 17 of us) and even the parents were rocking out too. He is a hilarious, old school partier from the East who now lives in Mexico and is the local dj. He is totally open to playing as much of "your" music as you request. Definitely has a little cheesy wedding dj in him but it made it super fun too.

For the resources that are available down there, he is great!

With all of that said I don't know your musical taste. If you want a real dj who spins electronic/techno music this is NOT your guy. I'm assuming not but just had to say that.

I have booked him for my wedding as well! We have 39 booked so far & I am execting about 50 or so! Not small, but I really didnt want to shell out $900 that DJ Mannia quoted me & I don't need fireworks. Just great music.

I was trying to decided between an iPod or a DJ & when I spoke with DJ Bob & he quoted me less almost half of DJ Mannia.... I decided to go with a DJ.

I spoke with him on the phone for about 45 min. Him & his wife moved from Jersey to Playa Del Carmen about 8 years ago..... so he speaks perfect english, has a cell phone you can contact him on & is currently doing Kareoke at 2 bars in Cancun 2x's a week & weddings on the weekend!

He will download any music you want to be played or you can let him choose. I am going for a site visit of our resort & he is going to meet us down there just to say hi.

He has also gone to visit the resort & already met with the WC's there to see where he can set up & to get any rules they might have.... & we're not getting married until May!

I was very impressed with him so far!

Do you have his contact information? I want to get a quote from him....I thought my quote from DJ Mannia was a litte high as well considering my reception is only 4 hours.

And this may be a stupid question, but are we supposed to tip the DJ on top of their fee? I'm not sure how that works in Mexico. Do you know what you were planning on doing?
Thanks!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
