Definitely the manager... The WC would have to take your requests to the manager for approval and how she presents the information to him will affect his decision. But tell the WC you appreciate her efforts but plan on contacting management as you realize she is just relaying the booking information to you and she probably doesn't have any authority over the bookings side of the business. That way, she isn't put off by your action if you continue to pursue having the wedding there and she winds up still being the WC for you.

Prepare yourself with facts--- how far in advance you've booked your wedding, how many rooms you wanted to block, how many guests you expected, and what you were expecting to spend yourselves and as a group in his hotel. Tell him/her your expectations for resolution (ie- providing alternate wedding site at sister hotel with accommodtions, serious discount in your pricing, freebies, etc...) and *aim high* as a start to negotiating.

Expect to be led to a desk supervisor or way-layed from speaking with a manager. Normal business procedures with most companies. Leave a message if you have to with an expectation of a return call (ie, need to hear back within 48 hours or else you'll have to look elsewhere for your wedding needs).

You can do it--- remember, Mexico is known for negotiations! :)

Hi, I know this thread is really old but hoped jdweinbe will still get this message. I just wondered how your wedding went and what happened with the 80 oercent rule as I have a similar problem. We are getting married there and when we booked we booked enough rooms for everyone but now people are booking to stay at other riu hotels thinking that they will have access to ours which after booking they've discovered they don't, I initially had just the right numbers staying at our hotel and other riu hotels but now more people have booked othe riu hotels and just wondeed whether they'd make an exception for othe riu hotel guest.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
