Reception question: Wear the Dress?

Recommended Posts

I plan on having a reception back at home after the wedding. I would like to celebrate with my friends and family who were not able to make it to my DW. I am going to have the reception at a nice hall, but my question is, is it tacky to wear my wedding dress to the reception a month after I was married? To wear the dress or not to wear the dress? Help me out and give me your opinion. Please!!

I was having this dilema as well as was not planning on wearing my dress, until...i mentioned this at a family gathering and all of my family was so upset. They said for them, my reception is technically my wedding because they can't attend the actual event. So, they convinced me to wear my dress for at least the beginning of the reception. Then I'm going to change into something more comfortable.

I am wearing my dress at our AHR 4 months after our wedding. For many people, the AHR is the wedding and then they can still see you in your dress. I am also making the bridal party wear their outfits and make it as much of a wedding reception for everyone that was unable to make it.

I am wearing my dress! I am getting a more comfortable "party dress" to wear later in the night at the DW, and so I figure I might wear both again. To my reception here at home I'll wear my gown, then change later in the night. It's best of both worlds! (and how many people get to wear the wedding dress twice!)

I wore my dress again. I'm so glad I did. Everyone wanted to see it, and I loved wearing it so much, I would have been quite sad after we got back from the wedding if I was done with it.

Andrea, I think you should wear the "beachy" dress. After all, you got married on a beach! You'll be inside anyway, right? You might look for a white (or ivory or whatever) shawl or coat or fur if you want to winter it up.

I'm so not wearing my dress again. My AHR is in the afternoon, and I'm going for casual!! My FMIL wanted me to wear a nice dress in Bermuda and wear my gown for the AHR I said um, my wedding day is in Bermuda not 2 weeks later! voodoo.gif I'm not the dressy type, so basically said you're lucky to get me in it once, not twice. I've decided on a nice ivory, gold or champagne colored dress for the AHR.

I'm soooooo wearing my dress again!! Why not you just get another reason to wear it. We have alot of people not coming to Jamaica and they all really want to see the dress on me not in photos... we are going with an afternoon in a nice hall because our AHR is in December in MA... = super crappy weather anyway you look at it.. Our theme is going to be everything from O.T. that is Luau and just have fun with it. I know I will be changing.. but I need to make sure that everyone can see me in it again.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
