How much are you planning on spending for Travel Costs for Photographers?

Recommended Posts

amy - im happy to give you my 2 cents :) for the most part my pricing includes a flat fee for DWs and i book my own travel, choose where i stay etc... as a photographer i have to tell you it is so much easier and more convenient to stay where the activities are going to take place. sometimes travel from one location to the next can be an adventure and unpredictable in a foreign country and you dont want your photographer to be late. also is your resort an AI? are you going to have to pay a day rate for the photogs to come on site for the wedding?

when im traveling for DWs one of my main concerns is making everything easy and relaxing for me and the couple. i try to predict any problems as best i can and help things go as smoothly as possible. i bet almost any wedding photographer would tell you one of the major stresses of the day is getting to the wedding.

so my packages are really set up to where i pick where im going to stay (there are some exceptions to that but rarely). sometimes it turns out to cost a little more than i estimated but i just suck it and pay cause i dont want to be across town in some mexican city that im not familiar with trying to get to the wedding. if i did things differently and the couple were going to book my stay and wanted to put me somewhere else besides the wedding i wouldnt be offended! but remember they may be coming over to your site 2-3 times over the weekend and there maybe a fee to get into the resort each time. lastly i would suggest arranging their travel back and forth from their hotel to yours. you are probably talking to a lot of travel advisors over there who could help you with that.

ok. hths :) your wedding looks lovely. congrats!!!

Thank you so much leigh! I love your honest advise! I am just trying to budget myself for this wedding.. most of the gals already have the $$ for the wedding, well I have to say that the reason why we are waiting so long is to make sure that we have enough saved to pay for everything we want.

The Mayan, where the reception will be held is not and AI, but the Melia (next door) where we are planning on staying and getting group rates with our guests is an AI.

Amy sometimes I wish we were waiting because we don't have money saved for our wedding either! Actually this week I need to figure out how much we need to save a week until the wedding, we are both going to be helping my dad out on the weekends during his busy season to make some extra money, I need to sell a few more houses, and steve is selling his harley, and that will be how we end up pulling this off!

Jilly, I know what you mean.. I started babysitting a couple of weeks ago to make extra cash and my FI works 6 days a week and works all the overtime he can. But I recently went for an interview for a good paying position a law school so Iâ€m hoping to get that job and not be so stressed for money!

Hi Girls!

I feel the same way about the $ too. My fiance is on the police force and is working crazy hours and I work full time and teach 3 yoga classes a week but trying to figure out what else I can do. We are paying for the DW and reception at home and have to really budget which is hard cause I am not good about saving $$. I think I may have to splurge on a photographer-see, told you I am not good at budgeting!blush2.gif

We are paying about 950 for our photographer's travel fees. She said that her packages include some travel fees, so I think that is pretty reasonable. It is for airfare and 3 nights since she will be staying for our day-after shoot which she is doing for free! The website is Tait Photography - US, Canada and International Destination Wedding Photography by Erica Tait if any of you are looking, she is really good :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
