Calling all St. John Brides...

Hello,

I am using St. John salon and spa. They are $5-$10 cheaper than Grapevine but I have no recommendations on either. I'll ask my cousin who lives there and get back to you. Go to stjohnsalonandspa.com When I called they got back to me in about 48 hours and made my appointment for May.

Hope this helps! My fiance is in the USVI on spring break and doing wedding research. What he tells me is making me even more excited for our wedding trip!

Hello, all!

We are in the throws of planning our wedding in St John in June. We went down to check it out in April and fell in love with the place. We are doing the ceremony at the resort and buying out a restaurant for the evening. We have 58 guests on the list but think we will have about 50 coming!

We have booked a chunk of rooms at Gallow's Point (we actually booked 3 buildings at the far end of the resort so we will have plenty of space to be noisy and a private lawn on the water). We are a bit of a bar hopping rowdy bunch so I wanted to stay in a place where no one would drive drunk and Gallows is steps from town. Plus it's gorgeous- the rooms are renovated and really nice, but they never updated their website, don't ask me why.

We originally planned on having the reception at the Balcony, but after lots of deliberation we are likely having it at the Fish Trap Restaurant. It doesn't have the views, but the owners were SO nice and accommodating when we were down there, they have communicated with us wonderfully and don't charge a buy out fee so we can have the place all night. And it's more affordable and the food is great there. It's a more casual feel, which suits us!

I haven't booked a photographer yet, but I love Greer Rivera. But she's not cheap. I need to do more research there. And officiant, cake, flowers, video, clothing... we still have some work to do!

We don't have a planner, which I still don't know is the right decision or not. It seems fine a year out, but I might turn into a spaz once we get down there! I guess we will find out!

I love hearing what everyone else is doing!

@TheTomato @petunia or anyone else in this thread... where did you have your receptions in st john? We are doing our ceremony at Trunk Bay and do not have a location yet for our reception. We would much rather do a dinner than a "reception" as we are having a full reception when we return home.

@K&Rwedding Do you know if they do a discount for law enforcement? Or just government employees? Either way that is wonderful!

Did anyone stay at the Westin, Caneel Bay, or The Ritz (St Thomas) for their honeymoon?? Looking for a very romantic location for my future hubby and I after our destination wedding!

@@Ursie77 @@lpstjohn81 I am assuming you both probably have had your weddings by now (LOL) can you give me any advice on locations for receptions? Also hair salons?

Has anyone worked with Ceremonies of St John as their planner? I would love info on whomever you decided to use as a planner!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
