Anyone buy off eBay???

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have picked my dress, and am now in the process of trying to find the cheapest place to get it. So far it seems like the cheapest has been through an eBay store - has anyone either purchased their wedding dress through eBay or known of anyone else who hashuh.gif

Also, I'm in Canada so I'm not sure if I'll end up saving much after customs - does anyone know what customs would be for a dress that costs around $500?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Not quite the same thing, but I bought my suit for the wedding on Ebay and had no problems. I buy stuff all the time on Ebay.

For customs. Ask the seller what they can do for you about customs costs. Some people will be willing to mark the item as a gift which eliminates or greatly reduces customs fees.

I've been looking on ebay for a dress too, to see if there was anything I liked. The individual sellers don't worry me and the bridal shops in the states don't worry me, but the ones in China that say they make the dresses, scare me. I don't know why, it just makes me really nervous.

I've never had any problems with any of the other transactions I've done on ebay.

Oh, one thing, I sold a few things on ebay and usually I only ship within the U.S. but one person from canada asked for something and another from mexico. So I said yes, shipped the items, the one going to canada was supposed to take up to 2 weeks, it was 2 months before he received it, and the one to mexico was supposed to be 2-3 weeks, it was 3-4 months before he received his stuff. I felt so bad for both of these people, they did get them, but it took a lot longer than expected. This was through the USPS, so just be sure to use fedex or ups or some type of guaranteed service just to be sure.

I'm an Ebay bride! smile159.gif

I am also a China manufacturer bride. The maker just emailed me saying that the dress will be ready in about 15 days so I can't say much about quality. Thus far, service has been easy and attentive. Before selecting a ebay vendor, I read all of the feedback and searched the message boards for comments. Very few have been dissapointed.

I have been purchasing a lot from Ebay for the wedding, so don't be nervous. Just make sure you don't wait till the last minute. If anything is wrong you can always get a replacement.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
