Mini Honeymoon- S Padre Island, TX/other recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Matt and I wanted to do a mini honeymoon in Oct/Nov since we didn't do anything after the wedding. Airfare has pretty much killed any of the ideas we have come up with (5 night cruise turns into $2200, AI resort airfare is about $500 each).

Has anyone ever been to S Padre Island? Any tips/pointers/recommendations? (I know it just got hit by Dolly, but I'm expecting it to be back to usual by the time we go)

For some reason I've always been interested in going there. I've seen/heard on tv that it is a big spring break place. However, I don't want to go during that time.

We are trying to keep it around $1200 total (hotel & air) for the both of us.

Very cool, what hotel did you stay at?

Once we find a hotel I'm going to call and ask about the hurricane damage, if any.

Hi there!

I'm from Texas and sadly I have not been to SPI since I was a kid, but all I hear are great things about the island!

Have you checked the airfare to see if it's economical?

Spring break season is over so you wouldn't have to worry about crazy teenagers running around and Texas, in general, is sooo affordable esp for vacation!

I think it's a great choice! Plz let me know if you have any further questions!

Hi Kelly! I've been in south padre island many times, it's 1.5 hours aways from where I live. I agree you have to make sure you don't go on spring break season, and also make sure the weather is hot when you go. And make your reservations on time 'cause it's always full

I'm from south texas but I have never been to SPI. We always went to port aransas, but I would not suggest that for a trip where you need to fly. it's not that different from any other beach town.

i think it's only spring breaky when mtv shows up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
