Hi everyone! Just some questions about Dreams Resorts in general...

Has anyone used the free wedding package and then just added on what they want, ie. private reception and cocktails, etc.? How much was it to have a private reception?

What kind of decorations are typically included with the free package?

I initially planned to go with the Ultimate Wedding Package but now I think I want to hire my own photographer and videographer so I don't want to pay the whole package price and not use certain aspects of it. We qualify for the complimentary package. Does anyone think it makes sense to do everything "ala carte"?

you should price everything out that you want to add to the free package and then decide. Are you having guests-also, what about a ceremony set up? I thought that I wanted the free one but the more I priced it out the better the deal was with a package. Check out the prices for the extras. I am using my own photographer also and still getting the ultimate.

We had the same problem...we are only going to have about 20 people...and I dont really trust having their Dreams' gardening staff signing as my witnesses or doing out photography. In fact, we dont even want the meal that comes with the Ultimate package...we just want a basic dinner...something that everyone will eat. It is best to just price everything out. Im half tempted to tell my guests that if they want coctail hour or any alcohol during dinner, to go to one of the bars and get their drinks for free!!! But then again, we are trying to plan a 5 star wedding on a 1 star budget.

Yeah I feel the same and I've already told them if they want drinks after the hour to go to the bar lmao

i still dont understand why you guys are paying for alcohol during a reception. i think you're wc is trying to pull something over on you.............i'd ask to speak w/ her boss and ask for an explanation as to why you have to pay for alcohol.

jill is right tho, you're better off starting w/ the package.

I think the packages are a small price to pay for the level of service you get from Dreams for your wedding plus the alcohol is included in the package. Certainly a lot less than getting married at home. If you are just interested in getting a regular dinner after your wedding, just get the free package and go to the restaurant and eat there for free along with your guests. You are really paying for set up, extra staff and service for a large group more than you are actually paying for food and drinks.

Lauren, I agree with you, I don't understand why people keep saying they are paying for alcohol. We didn't pay anything extra for alcohol, they served us during dinner and during the reception and the bar was right in the lobby if we wanted to get our own drinks.

Even though some of my guests are staying at Dreams, the Ultimate Package only serves alcohol to 20 guests anything over that is like $30.00+ per person to drink unlimited for 3 hours. I also tried to go around that but they said NO. I am still confused about this as well, it does sounds like a rip off if you are staying at the hotel and still have to pay for additional alcohol for your guests...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
