    Right back at ya Ashley!! :) My TA went to see "lupita" a month ago, and said she was pregnant, and overworked. I actually thought about switching locations b/c of this, and didn't....I figured she or her replacement could work out the "bugs" between May and June. That was my thinking at least...and I have great girlfriends that will make "whatever" happen if it isn't taken care of when we need to when we get there. :)

        a bit of an update: I called today and Lupita is out unitl May. I spoke with Alana, she is very nice!! VERY NICE!! I asked her to email me pics of cakes and flowers that we get to choose from. I arranged my reception dinner for the night before out on the "Plaza", which is the area outside by the waterfalls. Then I have the cocktail & hor 'dourve party following the ceremony on the beach on Saturday. :) I am much more relaxed and excited after talking to her. :)

          Thanks for the update. I was wondering what phone number you used to call down there. I couldn't use the 1800 number posted on their website. Also, when going over this planning, did anyone mention anything about paying $450 extra for the waiters to do the extra parties....
          Did you get the middle wedding package...That is what we got.
          Only four months to go!!!

            I selected the middle package and we told that we would have to pay $10 extra per person to have private events, like a private dinner reception.

              Hi Valentine brides!
              So my fiance and I are about to book the valentin for our wedding location! YIPPEEE! We've been trying to decide between The Royal (Playa del carmen), the Riu and the Valentin and I think we've decided on The Valentin. The Royal is gorgeous and right in downtown but there is something about it that just seems really overpriced to me (the location is awesome!).

              We have no idea at this point how many people are going to be able to make it given the economy and all, so we think the valentin is the best option to handle a small wedding of 10 and up to 60-80 people. We are inviting around 90 people and hope that 30-40 will make it. I love the courtyard reception picture on their website. :-)

              A private reception has been number 1 on my list too. I can't believe the quoted you only $10 per person extra. that is definitely worth it. I was going to pay $7k for the wedding package at The Royal - it included private reception and all the bells and whistles. :-)

              We are looking at Feb. 20th, 2010 or March 20th 2010.

              I can't wait to read more reviews on the Valentin...keepem' comin!

                Okay Ladies,

                I just got several long emails from Alana, which include a new wedding package brochure and a spa price list (which I am attaching). They have changed some things including the fact that the packages include things for 25 guests. Anymore more than that is $41 per person (not the $10, I was originally quoted).

                She also sent me some pictures and one document that I can't open on my home computer so I will have to try at work. She still needs to send me the update menu.She somewhat answered a bunch of questions, so when I have time to go through them all I will post them too.

                Nothing was really cleared up and I only have new questions.

                My biggest question that I am going to try to get answered is...what does normal set up look like? If you have to pay extra of chair covers and bows, what do the chairs alone look like. Are any centerpieces provided and if so what do they look like.

                If you have the answer to those, please share!!

                  HELP!!!I am ready to freak out and just don't know what to do. I am being told by my travevl agent that inorder to have my wedding at the Valentin and to guarantee the date I have to put down $150.00 per person with a minimum of 10 rooms/20 people. On top of the $800.00 deposit. Does everyone have to do this. I have been trying to reserve the date for over a month now and don't seem to be getting anywhere.. HELP!!!

                    I only had to do the 800 for the wedding deposit. I didn't do a "group" rate on the rooms for that reason. I had everyone just book on their own, and it worked out well so far. I hope that helps Hoopchic.

                      Here is exactly what my travel agent said:

                      Here's what we need so that we can confirm with the Valentin:

                      To booked this, just ask and I will send out the first form: a Booking Form. (I told her to send this!)Once you sign the Booking Form, I will issue a group contract,Your group will have 10 days from the receipt to get me a deposit of $150 pp. Need to guarantee a minimum of 10 rooms - 1 set of dates. (If you don't have 10 positves yet, which I'm sure you do, you might want to put the money out and they can reimburse you. 10 rooms would not be that difficult - just family alone.)

                      I already filled out a form. . so not sure what this new form is! How did you guarantee your day without doing all of this? Do you think I need a new travel agent? The frustrating this is I talked to 2 travel agents. . .and one said 150.00 per person and anothr said $50.00!!!
