Hoopchic,

My travel agent is having nothing to do with my wedding. He is doing travel plans for some (but not all) of my guests. While a large part of my group is traveling the same dates, not all of them are.

I reserved the date with the Valentin on my own. I would try going with this angle. I reserved my date by putting down the $800 deposit. I think that my travel agent had to send something to them saying that I was booking rooms with them bit there was not a certain number of rooms.

I hope this helps.

I can give you my travel agent if you would like. All I did, is pay the 800 to secure the resort for the date. And then my guests can book through their own travel agent, or with mine. If they use mine, then they just fill out a form on my website, with the dates they would like to go, they have until the wedding to pay her, and THEY give her a 150 deposit to lock it in....I didn't have a lot to do with my guests booking rooms, or thier travel. I just have the travel agents information on my website. Here is my website, hopefully that will help. :)

Hi there - Does anyone know if you HAVE to have already booked your travel before you can book your wedding date at the Valentin? I know I want to get married there and have emailed and received an information form back from Guadalupe/Ariadna that asks for my arrival dates/confirmation #'s but I want to confirm my wedding date before booking my travel... It's kind of one of those chicken/egg situations. It also mentions that the information is valid until October of 2009 but I am looking into next February or early March 2010... How did you all go about thishuh.gif Any insight would be MOST appreciated! smile35.gif

I confirmed my date and then they did ask for my travel agent to send confirmation. At that point I had put down a deposit for me and was holding spots for my travelers.

My booking went like this (if I remember right). I was in contact with a TA but had not put money down. He told me that if the Valentin was what I wanted I needed to reserve my date. I emailed the Valentin to reserve. They wanted confirmation from my TA and $800 deposit. SO, I put a $2000 deposit with my TA (this held 40 spots for travelers @ $50 a spot). As my guest booked that freed up my $50 for their spot and then that money went towards my trip. My TA gave me a date in which I had to let go of any spots not booked (this way I got my $50 that was holding it back and I wasn't out any money). I hope that was clear. If you are not booking with a TA I am not sure how you would go about this.

Most if not all of their information says it can change at anytime without notice. I will say that from 2008-2009 the things that changed with the "unforgettable" package were, you no longer got a natural centerpiece, and they began specifying how many guest the package was for (25) prior to that it said all wedding party members staying at the resort. I am not sure about the other packages.

I will say after dealing with them through email and on the phone, the phone is easier but with that you don't have anything in writing.

Hope this helps and soon you will have lots of reviews to check out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
