Valentin Imperial Maya Brides?

Good idea! I'll ask Veronica about that.

Which dessert is everyone choosing? All the desserts sound... interesting. "Nuts cake"... lol.

We had found maraca favors at a different resort in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta) and our plan was to ship them to Valentin.   After discussing this with Ana, she told us that they can only keep anything that is shipped for 1 week before the wedding.  Therefore, we are now having them shipped from Mexico to NJ and then lugging them back to Mexico!  UGH!

I just don't want to risk the shipment not getting in on time or getting there too early!!

Also, as far as dessert, we were thinking the coconut cake?  Kind of fits with the warm tropical theme.

I just got married at the VIM on Jan. 26 2011. It was absolutely fabulous!

SHIPPING: We decided to bring all our decorations with us in our luggage and using a couple of boxes. We were ready to pay for the extra baggage but found out at the airline registration counter (the day we left) that we could "share" our load of extra luggage and weight with any of our guests that were under weight and travelling in our group. How great is that! It didn't cost us a single penny for all of our extra stuff. This was with Nolitours leaving from Montreal. Shipping was insanely expensive and bringing it all with us on the flight ensured it would get to our destination in time.

We brought paper lanterns with led lights, raffia fans with colored ribbons, chandles, gifts, lei necklaces, flower centerpieces, etc. Everything (deco) was MUCH cheaper buying at home and bringing over ourselves thatn buying or renting in Mexico or at the VIM. We also advised all of our guests to keep room in their luggage for a surprise at the airport and greeted everyone with their OOT BAGS filled with gifts.

MUSIC: We also brought a BeatBox to play our iPod during the ceremony, at dinner and after for a fun night of dancing under the stars.

PHOTOGRAPHER: We hired Samuel Luna for photos on our wedding day and for a TTD session the following week. He and Cesar were absolutely wonderful to work with and their photos so far are stunning! We also used Blue Lense (the VIM photographer included in our Wedding Package) for a day of romantic shots all around the resort. We were trully impressed with Ashley's photos and how easily and quickly she could place us and direct us into these beautiful and fun shots all over the resort and beach.

Hope this helsp and if you have any other Qs, I'd be glad to share more of my experience at the VIM. :-D

Yes I live in NJ.  We actually got engaged at Giant's Stadium (first game of this past season). It's a long story but basically after I told him to buy Giant's season tickets instead of an engagement ring, he knew I was the one and proposed anyway lol

Thanks for the input on shipping, I am going to ship down favors and stuff for a candy bar.

Nikki, do you happen to live in Jersey?  I can't help but notice your photo is at Giants Stadium

That is too funny!! I don't want to admit it, but my FI is an eagles fan.  Even though we live so close to the Meadowlands.

Sweetpea,

We are using Samuel Luna too!  I actually already saw your photos from him and they came out gorgeous!!!

Congrats!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
